capabilities. IBIE Re-Eng is a development project comprising

development of Cognos Report using Vertica Data Mart. These Reports

will be designed using Cognos 8.4 Report studio. The Model has been

already designed on top of vertica data mart. The Reports have to be

developed based on the Model designed. These are complex set of

reports serving users from various functions such as Profitability,

GIB using advanced Cognos Reporting features.

dashboards. Oracle based Warehouse, which is repository of all

business information, pulls in data from various business critical

internal Application. Cognos Application facilitates business users to

captures all Critical Financial, Sales, and HR Information of

Syngenta.

Sightline is the name of the Vehicle Data warehouse and Cognos Based

business Application based in it. The warehouse is a DB2-based

repository consisting of a normalized Operational Data Store of

vehicles, which is populated nightly with all vehicle related events

through Mainframes Batch jobs. The cubes are populated every morning

with the fresh data through UNIX scripts.

The project involves Automation of the Volume Planning system

that deals with development of plans for the next 10 years where in

the number of vehicles to be manufactured at each of their Assembly

Plants are being planned according to the demand. This was automated,

and it reduced the time taken for a plan considerably compared to

present manual processing. It involves Reporting all the Planned Data

into various Reports which will be used by the Users to Compare Data

between Plans, workout strategies and proceed through the various

modules in the Application. The Reports were earlier designed in

Cognos Impromptu 7.3 and had to be migrated to Cognos 8.

Key Responsibilities

. Lead the team of cognos developers, trained them in cognos 8

technology

Project: Capacity and Option Planning System

COPS is a client server based long term forecasting system. It

specifically deals with vehicle volume and option rate forecast. The

volumes and option rates maintained in COPS are utilized by a number

of operations in the corporation, most notably, the buyer and supplier

organizations who are forecasting the long-range tooling requirements.

Capacity and Options Planning system (COPS) is based on three-tier

architecture designed using power builder, Sybase, enterra server and

Brio reporting tool. COPS redesign is slated as Web based application

on J2EE platform, DB2 database and Cognos reporting tool. The User

would like to visualize data at each and every stage of COPS module to

validate the result and pre assess the impact so that he could make

the changes during later stage.

These reports were generated using Cognos.

impromptu reports.

and Australia. CCR (Continuous Cast Copper rod) Plant is a newly

developed division for the production of excellent quality of Copper

rods through Rolling mills. CCR Automation team consists of

Automation and System Engineers to maintain and support the System.

Ad-hoc Reports, Monthly Reports were created on top of Oracle

database.
