Work History
12/2000 to 04/2009
Libby's Torrington Furniture Co.
I was hired as the office manager. I had two bosses that are
brothers. I had to juggle the needs and the priorities of the two
different personalities. I also had to learn both bosses' duties so when
one is not there I can perform their roles along with my own. My duties
were: phone, daily entries of furniture sold to whom, balance credit cards,
banking, taxes, deposits, payroll, orders, delivers, overlooking delivery
men and in-house prep. work, truckers, mailing list, financing, back up of
computers and updates, office supplies, end of month and year, sell and
price merchandise. As you can read my plate was full and I'm capable of
multi tasking.
Salary: $43,200
01/1990 - 12/2000
Torrington Honda
I was hired as a service advisor, duties included booking service
appointments, writing repair orders, dispatching, processing warranties and
to up sell. I worked in service for approx. 3 years. The G.M. then moved
me to the office where I worked for 6 years, duties there were phones,
cashier, bank deposits, closing and posting repair orders, warranties, DMV,
floor plan, bank contracts. Then in Jan. 99 the G.M. moved me to the
finance/business manager's position. I took on the position with little
training. I was given bank phone numbers and a review of the fianc
program in the computer. I guess that's what they call hands on learning
quick.
Salary: $40,000 -$50,000
12/1986 - 12/1989
Torrington Toyota
I was hired as service secretary. After 2 years of experience in the
service department and the parts department when needed, I applied for the
service manager's position when it opened but was told I was to train the
new manager and I didn't qualify because I was female. I was then offered
the service advisor position at Honda.
11/1985 - 11/1986
Torrington Dental and Orthodontic
The dental office just opened, I was their only employee so I had to
assist doctors, book appointments, account payables and receivables, etc.
I also was able to pour models, x-rays, develop x-rays and sanitize
instruments.
08/1982 - 10/1985
South Pacific Restaurant
Started out as a waitress, bar manager, then was offered the position
of restaurant manager but declined.
Personal Comments
My work experience has given me the secretarial skills and the
ability to be a people person. I have been working with the public all my
life and have had training in customer communication and interpersonal
skills. As far as computer experience, I have used excel, word, outlook
and quick books for payroll, expenses, payables, reports, commission
charts, tracking sales and inventory. As you can see from my job history I
am more than willing to learn numerous jobs, I feel the more I know about
the business I'm involved in the easier it is to do my own job. Sometimes
it's a benefit, then sometimes it's not because the more you know the more
is expected of you, but I'd rather know than not.
Sincerely yours,
Nancy Hoysradt
