support using his soil science, botanical and environmental permit ting skills. Dr.
Jaworski is also seeking a position as a project manager to investigate hazardous
waste sites. Dr. Jaworski is conversant with project management software such as
Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, as well as SAP for t racking project costs.
Career Summa ry
Dr. Jaworski has nearly 30 years of experience managing land use permitt ing
-
and hazardous waste site investigations for regulators, environmental
consulting fi rms and the largest public utility company in New Jersey;
Dr. Jaworski has lectured to hundreds of utility employees on wetlands
-
recognition, regulations and mitigation while an employee at the largest electric
and gas utility company in New Jersey;
Dr. Jaworski has also published research findings derived from his M.Sc. and
-
Ph.D. theses in Plant Physiology and Soil Science.
Employment
Public Service Enterprise Group (Newark, New Jersey)
-
Principal Environmental Analyst (1989-2009) – Managed a hazardous waste site
i nvestigation in Hamil ton Township in Mercer County where organic solvents were
found in the groundwater. The sources of the contamination were identified and
removed before any contamination could reach drinking water supplies. Schedule
and the budget were managed using tools such as SAP and Excel.
Also managed numerous wetland permitting efforts for PSE&G. The most
s ignificant ones were the acquisition of five blanket wetland permits from the State
of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ((NJDEP). These permits
enabled PSE&G to install and repair electric t ransmission, electric distribution, gas
d istribution and gas t ransmission facilities within regulated freshwater wetlands
and wetland buffers in New Jersey without having to apply for a permit each t ime
an activity occurred in a regulated wetland. These creative permits saved PSE&G
s ignificant costs and streamlined the permit ting process by 6 to twelve months.
W rote a clean fill permit application for the on-site disposal of inert, non-hazardous
building material associated with the demolition of a former power plant in Jersey
C ity, New Jersey. By obtaining this clean fill permit PSE&G was able to save an
estimated $500,000 in landfill disposal costs.
Envirosphere Company (Lyndhurst, New Jersey)
-
Senior Environmental Analyst (1986-1989) – Dr. Jaworski was responsible for
w ri ting human health r isk assessments for various hazardous waste sites such as
Superfund sites and former manufactured gas plant sites in New Jersey and New
York. These r isk assessments targeted soil clean up levels for various hazardous
substances such as benzo(a)pyrene, lead, cadmium, chromium and benzene.
Dr. Jaworski also delineated numerous freshwater wetlands using the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers methodology on Superfund sites and major utili ty company
p roperties in New Jersey and New York.
State of New Jersey Pinelands Commission (New Lisbon, New Jersey)
-
Staff Soil Scientist (1980-1985) – Dr. Jaworski was responsible for reviewing hundreds of
applications for development within the one million acre Pinelands Area in southern New
Jersey. This review included evaluating soils for drainage properties and the ability of the
soils to attenuate septic pollutants such nit rate nitrogen. Dr. Jaworski was also responsible
for delineating freshwater wetlands on hundreds of properties. Dr. Jaworski also served as
an expert witness in 15 hearings held in the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law. Dr.
Jaworski’s expertise as a witness enabled the Pinelands Commission to defend its decisions
every t ime he testified.
