selected accomplishments
Busniess Excellence / Optimization / Lean Six Sigma
. Architected and led project to streamline systems and processes for
reporting of product performance at key corporate customers. Reduced
labor expended by 96% while substantially expanding reporting and
analysis capabilities. Co-chaired multi-year effort with limited IT
resources as Six Sigma Black Belt projects
. Created new Quality Function Deployment function that provided data
system users maximum benefit with first releases.
. Provided return projections for Sales Administration that assisted in
avoidance of millions of dollars in invalid customer claims.
. Increased predictability in end-user warranty planning and supplier
quality management by utilizing Design For Reliability techniques to
generate field return projections.
. Initiated eLearning modules to replace live system training for more
convenient and accessible training of multiple user levels at many
international locations.
. Championed iterative test / break / improve process and partnered with
Engineering to achieve factor of three spec. increase in product
reliability over 6 months.
Management
. Built full functioning product qualification and reliability test
organization from scratch, staffing, defining procedures, procuring
equipment and establishing relationships and audits with external testing
and safety certification organizations.
. Sequentially promoted over 3 year period from Environmental Test Manager
to Director of Quality responsible for complete company quality function
reporting to the President.
. Managed expansion of quality and engineering services organizations to
keep pace with demands associated with doubling in corporate revenue and
shift in corporate structure from functional to divisional.

visibility customer projects.
Customer Interface
. Reporting to VP Corporate Accounts, Sales supported corporate OEM's,
managing quality performance through partnership with design,
manufacturing, logistics, service and repair in multiple locations
worldwide.
. Avoided millions of dollars in invalid customer claims through return
projection analysis.
. Requalified product, manufacturing, and repair processes for fortune 500
computer manufacturer to stringent requirements even though customer
management said requalification was impossible, avoiding return of
millions of dollars of product.
. Managed disc drive quality performance at major US workstation
manufacturer to help grow business from scratch to $600M / yr. Improved
scorecard performance from third to first place.

Selected Accomplishments (Continued)
. Managed product quality performance for key computer manufacturer in
France and built business from scratch to surpass 1M units in a month.
. Working from Netherlands office, established sustainable organization to
support key European computer manufacturers. Directed improvement
efforts in field engineering, manufacturing, business management,
marketing, service, logistics, repair, etc. Increased or maintained high
customer scorecard ratings.
Design and Manufacturing Engineering
. Designed commercial version of turnkey cryogenic research instrument for
measuring magnetic susceptibility of small samples in temperatures from
1.5K to 400K and magnetic fields from earth's field to 5Tesla. Developed
procedures, staffed for manufacturing and test, procured equipment to
build one complex system per month.
. Utilized gauge R&R process to identify causes for assemblies not meeting
specification. Improved precise grinding measurement system resolution
by factor of 25 at no capital cost.
