10/07 - Present EDAG, Inc
Head of IT - U.S. Auburn Hills, MI
I serve as Head of IT for the US operations of EDAG GmbH & Co. KGaA,
the largest engineering company in World. We specialize in a wide variety
of projects in the mobility industry, including Automotive, Aeronautics,
Defense, Rail, and Assembly lines. My team and I handle all computer
operations directly reporting to the COO. I have a staff of 7 supporting 3
sites including 2 manufacturing facilities. We service 500 users on 3
separate networks in a wide range of departments including CAE, Design,
Engineering, Sales, Finance, Manufacturing, HR and Military. My duties
include handling all IT budgets, billing back to the appropriate cost
centers/departments for work or goods received, mobile communication, and
interfacing with EDAG customers involving IT related matters. During my
time at EDAG I have completely rebuilt the department from the ground
floor. This included installing a new network and domain as well as the
implementation of Kaizen.
1/2004 - 9/2007 Martinrea International
Mgr, Computing Systems Integration Troy, MI
As the manager of systems for Martinrea's U.S. Corporate office and
Engineering Center, I was responsible for all operations of the main MPLS
network. Martinrea was founded by executive managers from Magna. I helped
Martinrea complete 2 major acquisitions which made them the 2nd largest
Canadian automotive supplier and one of the largest worldwide. My team
provided IT and data integration support corporate wide when it came to all
CAD, PLM, CAE, data exchange and engineering methods. My duties included
maintaining a $2.2 million IT budget, being responsible for all IT/Software
agreements, and managing all IT related projects through our office. I
supervised a staff of 7 network and 2 data administrators supporting a wide
range of applications such as Legato, VERITAS, Citrix, CAD, CAE,
Engineering visualization and SAP on a very heterogeneous network. My team
also provided all remote support for numerous lights-out facility networks.
10/1997 - 1/2004 Magna
International, Inc.
Mgr, Computer Systems Integration Troy,
MI
I was employed as Manager of Computer Systems for Cosma
Internationals Sales and Engineering division the $7.5 billion metal
forming arm of Magna International. My team supported all Cosma
Engineering and Sales locations worldwide including 6 sites overseas. In
addition, we provided support for 2 prototype operations and a 100,000 sq
ft manufacturing facility. There was a user base of more than 400 running
in a very heterogeneous environment that consisted of over 70 CAD and FEA
seats running CATIA, Unigraphics, I-deas, LS-DYNA, Nastran, Hypermesh, and
a host of other CAD, visualization and analysis tools. This included
Linux compute clusters, high-end multi-processor IBM eSeries machines and
several midrange boxes used for computational analysis along with more than
500 desktop PC's and servers. I spearheaded Cosma's corporate PLM
initiative, Cosma's largest IT project to date. My duties included the
recommendation and approval of all hardware and software used to support
these organizations from copiers to firewalls. I created and maintained a
yearly budget of over $5 million.
1/96 - 10/97 Excel Industries
Automotive Division
Technology Leader III Southfield, MI
I served as group leader in support of Excel Industries automotive
computer systems running a mixed UNIX/NT network spanning 5 states. My
duties involved leading a team of four other administrators in all day-to-
day system activities. This included machine installs system backups,
customer assistance, and software refresh. Other duties included capacity
planning, recommending and purchasing new equipment, budget planning, and
assisting upper-level management in technology issues. I also oversaw the
data translation group that supported our CAD department doing over 200
transactions a week to various other CAD systems.
4/85 - 1/96 Electronic Data Systems
Systems Engineer Troy, MI
I worked in the C4/CIM group developing the Common Engineering
environment (CEe) for all of General Motors' 20,000+ UNIX workstation
platforms. I served as the group's technical consultant for the
workstations' implementation and set-ups. This included the common set-up
of SMTP, Lotus Notes, DNS, file structure, and CDE. I was also the
technical lead for all PC-to-workstation utilizing X11 based PC products
such as Hummingbird, DOS Emulation on the Workstations and other PC related
TCP/IP products. Prior to my joining the C4 organization, I was Lead
System Administrator for GM's Safety Center, Aerodynamics Laboratory and
Die Management networks consisting of more than 60 workstations from SGI,
HP, Sun, and IBM along with assorted Windows based machines. I had
responsibility for hardware purchasing, budgeting, software administration
and end-user support along with a staff of 3 system administrators and
support personnel.
