PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Software Engineer June 2007 to present
Rockwell Collins Inc, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Group: Enterprise Tools Integration.
Group mission: To enhance the productivity of Engineers by developing, improving, maintaining
and supporting best tools for SDLC operations and processes, with Usability, Enterprise Scalability and
Performance Optimization as key goals.
Major accomplishments:
• Developed and maintained a custom Eclipse based Integrated Development Environment (IDE) at
Enterprise level, for use by engineering teams using Model Based development tools within
Rockwell Collins.
• Developed plug-ins and extended the capabilities of Eclipse Workbench.
• Made User-Interface extensions to the Eclipse workbench including workspace scoped
Preferences, Menus, sub-menus, File Systems in Navigator, Project Properties, Perspectives,
Views, Menu bar items, Wizards, Dialogs, etc,. Experienced with APIs of SWT and JFaces.
Managed and manipulated resources in the workspace based on User actions.
• Participated in the development of a web application based on Rich Ajax Platform (RAP),
catering to the reporting needs of key stakeholders in the company, thus enabling them to make
strategic decisions based on the reported data.
• Contributed to the development of a Rich Client Platform (RCP) application that is extensively
used by thousands of Engineers in the Enterprise.
• Gathered requirements from end users and stake holders, presented Use Case, Design and Code
reviews and documented all project technical information in Enterprise Architect or Rhapsody,
based on team-project.
• Deployed Enterprise Architect projects to SQL database thus enabling Systems Engineering teams
to collaborate real-time within the tool.
• Supported UML tools, Enterprise Architect (by Sparx Systems) and Rational Rhapsody (an IBM
Rational tool) and served as sole tool smith for the Enterprise.
• Directly interfaced with end-users and helped them get on-board with the Custom-developed and
commercial tools in Model Based Engineering space. Investigated and resolved issues with
configuration, deployment and use of Engineering tools over WAN.

• Participated in the development of a Web application that serves as a Reuse-portal for cross-team
collaboration.
• Participated in a trade study of top Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions available
in the market to pick the solution appropriate for the Enterprise.
• Conducted performance tests on Enterprise tools and found key bottlenecks that need to be
addressed to enhance productivity of end users. Presented the findings to leadership, advocated
changes to fix the major issues hurting productivity and succeeded in getting approvals for the
Infrastructure and policy changes to address the bottlenecks.
• Proposed and implemented User interface changes on multiple occasions during team
discussions, to enhance the User experience with the tools and Environment.
• Attended the IBM innovate 2010 technology conference at Orlando, Florida with Rockwell
Collins Enterprise team and EclipseWorld 2008 conference in Reston, Virginia.
Tools and technologies used: JAVA, J2SE in application development, Eclipse 3.3.2, Eclipse 3.5.2 for
development and tooling with Plug-Ins, Rich Client Platform and Rich Ajax Platform, Enterprise
Architect for Requirements and Design documentation, Subversion for version control, Clear Quest for
change control, Media Wiki for User documentation, SWT and JFaces for User interfaces in the Eclipse
Environment, JDOM for XML, JProfiler, JUnit, JDBC, Multithreading, AJAX, JavaScript, XML, XSLT,
XSD, MATLAB and VAPS XT as key technologies integrated within the Custom IDE, relational
databases Microsoft SQL database and Oracle 10g DBMS, JSP, JSF, application server Apache Tomcat,
and HTML for web application development, Linux and Windows XP(32 and 64 bit) environments for
support of tools in multiple platforms. Python and Perl for scripting backend operations in the custom
IDE development, familiarity with Hibernate and Spring frameworks, Visual Studio 2005 and C# .NET to
create an Add-In for Enterprise Architect tool.
Software Quality Assurance Engineer Nov 2006 – May 2007
Symantec Corporation, Newport News, VA
Major Accomplishments:
• Improved and maintained the deployment of a distributed test automation framework to test a
component library across multiple platforms supported. The Automation eliminates all
environment setup dependencies and helps test across many operating systems and versions with
one command.
• Configured complex enterprise test environments, operating systems, applications, and networks.
• Managed defect reports and created and executed test cases for component library in C++.
Tools and Technologies used: Software Test Automation Framework (STAF), C++, XML, Perforce,
Bugzilla, RedHat Linux, Solaris, VMWare.
Software Engineer – Embedded Systems Feb 2005 – Nov 2006

International Communications Group, Newport News, VA
Major Accomplishments:
• Designed a customized FTP Client application that transfers files qualifying a filter-criterion from
a remote vendor’s FTP server, following the standard File Transfer Protocol of request and
response sequence. Designed a User-Interface making it easy to use for the administrators to
change client authentication information and many other parameters, offering flexibility and
configurability.
• Developed a Gateway Server which acts a bridge between authorizing banks and customers, over
the network. The Dual acting gateway listens for client requests and handles each request in a
separate thread to forward to the authorizing server, after re-structuring to conform to protocol.
Developed a Multi-threaded authorization request handler. Designed a User Interface to report the
request-response sequences between the authorizing server and clients.
• Developed Digital Signal-Processing solutions for a telephony application. Implemented the
algorithms Line echo cancellation, DTMF and call progress tone detection and generation,
conferencing and voice prompt. Configured the DSP to suit multi-channel application.
Tools and Technologies used: JAVA, UML, Enterprise Architect, Eclipse IDE, analyzers,
Oscilloscopes, debuggers and emulators, TMS320C6416 processor from the C6000 family of TI.
