Essential Skills:
Technical understanding of polymer chemistries and additive
technologies
Comprehensive knowledge of knife-over-roll, roll to roll, vertical
knife coating equipment, laminating, and extrusion equipment, embossing
rolls, ovens (heated oil, gas, UV curable)
Solid knowledge of PVC polymers (emulsion and micro suspension), co-
polymers, plastisols etc.
Solid knowledge of processing additives (viscosity regulators,
wetting agents, fire retardant suppressants) etc.
Self starter capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated ability to complete projects in a timely manner
Ability to operate safely in a laboratory, production and processing
environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively
with internal scientific, engineering and business functions as well as
external customers and suppliers
Computer skills to use spreadsheet, word processing, data analysis,
presentation and search software packages.(Microsoft Office, Visio,
Primavera, Autocad, SketchUP, REFIT Architecture, Power Point, Hummingbird)
Effective verbal, written and phone communication skills
Strong team orientation
Able to carry out assignments with the highest regard for safety and
environmental performance
Ability to collect, evaluate and sort out data of experiments,
statistics, to solve complex problems.
Education and Experience:
BS in civil engineering.
Polymer formulating and processing experience.
Experience in PVC compounding and/or formulating. Comprehensive
knowledge of properties specs of micro-suspension and emulsion grades PVC
resins, major world suppliers. Solid knowledge of phthalate and non-
phthalate plasticizers and other organic compounds.
Solid knowledge of textile equipment, methods of weaving and
knitting, knowledge of polyester yarn specs, applications, methods of
production. Proprietary formulations of plastisols.
Expert in coated fabrics finishing, seeming, welding (HF welding, hot
air, hot edge etc.) equipment and applications.
Comprehensive knowledge of different types of coating machines (knife-
over-roll, reverse roll, vertical knife coatings, dip coatings etc)
Comprehensive knowledge of woven and knitted fabrics ( polyester
yarn, fiberglass, composite etc.) and weaving equipment.
Knowledge of calendaring and laminating equipment. Deep knowledge of
roofing systems, mostly PVC coated membranes, PVDF and acrylic top
coatings, methods of manufacturing and installation.
