Projects in M.S

OPTIMIZATION OF SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER BY VARYING NUMBER OF BAFFLES

. A shell and tube heat exchanger prototype design dimensions are

drafted and designed for three different cases, one with no baffles,

one with one baffle and one with two baffles using PRO-E.

. The designed prototype model is uploaded in Ansys to mesh it and then

analyzed the flow and temperature distribution of cold fluid.

. A graph is drawn for the temperature distributions for each case and

then we will verify the optimized number of baffles to be used for the

maximum heat transfer.

PARALLEL FLOW VS COUNTER FLOW IN A SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER

. A part of shell and tube heat exchanger prototype is designed using

PRO-E with only one tube inside a shell. The designed is meshed in

Gambit and the meshed file was uploaded in Fluent 10.0.

. Now the temperature distribution is analyzed in the shell and tube

heat exchanger prototype for parallel flow and counter flow and

compared by plotting a graph and comparing the results.
