American Medical News
Copy edited the bi-weekly newspaper and its Web site, amednews.com,
both of which are owned by the American Medical Association. The newspaper
has a circulation of 238,000, with all its content geared toward doctors or
other members of the health care field.
Patch.com
Worked for the AOL-owned service that provides hyper-local coverage
of Chicago suburbs. I was part of a team gathering information, taking
digital photos and writing profiles of local businesses and uploading it
all to the Patch.com website.
Chicago Tribune
Assistant Subject Editor: Edited news copy, wrote headlines and
checked page proofs. As one of two slots in a 30-person Metro desk
operation, I had responsibility under intense deadline pressure for back-
checking the work of other copy editors while also developing their editing
and headline-writing skills.
Under the hyper-intense deadlines of ChicagoTribune.com, I edited
breaking news stories and rapidly moved them onto the Web. I possess some
HTML skills.
Chicago Sun-Times
Copy Editor: Worked primarily on News copy desk. Also served on
Financial and Features desks. Worked slot on nine-person News desk.
Designed pages as a News Editor. Assembled news stories as Wire Editor.
Field Graphics
Proofreader: On deadline, I back-checked ad copy for special-interest
magazines, business journals, local shoppers, and a variety of other
publications.

Adjunct Professor: I ran a lab that contained 12-15 graduate students
per quarter, teaching them copy editing, headline writing, style, fact
checking and page design.
