Turned around profitable, but declining, $25MM manufacturing business unit
that sold 3,500 product SKUs, and shipped over one million items per year
to US and international clients in most industries. Full P&L, including
managing 225 distributors and sales reps.
. Reorganized business unit and took decisive actions in first four months
that increased profits the equivalent of a 23% boost in sales with no
downsizing. Raised bookings by 24% and operating income by 54% in a
recession year. Elevated bookings by 40% and EBITDA by 67% in first 18
months.
. Achieved record bookings, sales, gross margin, EBITDA and operating
income, as well as record customer satisfaction, 5S, safety/environmental

Led multiple chemical processing plants, equipment engineering,
metals/plastics manufacturing and customer sales/services at multiple Med-
Shred locations.
. Doubled contracted sales, tripled customer base, increased average
service sales price by 73%, opened/managed production facilities in four
cities and increased production throughput by 78% in six months.
. Increased revenue (organic/acquisitions) from $1.7MM to $40MM, raised
over $19MM in investor funding, and grew company from 17 to 89 people in
13 months.
Led start-up of spin-off waste treatment equipment manufacturing company,
GTI. Designed new chemical processing plants, closed major sales contracts
and established sales reps in the EU, Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
Positioned firm for $3.5MM in start-up funding and then sold personal

solution in under a year so Compaq, Dec and Tandem could merge, operate
and manage 12 million parts needed to run their combined worldwide

. Provided long-term sales consulting, marketing, web, recruiting and PR
services that enabled a fiber optic manufacturing client company to grow

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, LOCKHEED MARTIN, ($40B), Houston, TX, 1994 -
1998
. Developed/marketed/proposed/sold $40MM in international projects,
including government, energy, chemical progressing, environmental and
defense programs and offsets.
. Designed/marketed/proposed/sold $10MM - $100MM thermal/chemical
processing facilities, including one chosen as "Best Innovative Design"
in a competitive, 10-company, international bid for a US Government
design/build/operate contract.
. Supported international F-16 fighter jet and jet electronics sales and
proposal campaigns that yielded $4.5B in new defense contracts.
DIRECTOR, NFS, ($210MM), MD and TN, 1986 - 1994
. Senior manager at a 22-acre union metals manufacturing and chemical
processing plant that owned environmental and software subsidiaries.
Represented the firm (one week after hire) in an adversarial
Congressional Hearing focused on the company's worker health and safety
record, and then went on to develop programs/projects that elevated the
facility's regulatory standing from "Watch List" to "Best in Class".
Business grew from 540 to 711 employees.
. Designed, selected, and implemented new MRP/ERP software business system
that achieved a one-year ROI equal to 120% and a 2-year ROI equal to
360%. Reorganized the manufacturing business to achieve ROI without
layoffs.
. Led business planning for a stalled environmental subsidiary's start-up
and planned the service company's turnaround. Company grew from 13 to 143
employees in 18 months and was recognized by Business Week magazine as a
"Top Ten Fastest Growing US High Tech Start-Up".
. Created a new ERP software development division. Led design, patenting,
business operations and sales of $MM+ and PC-based software products that
became world market share leaders.
MILITARY: US Navy Nuclear Engineering/Electrical Officer. Operated 48MW and
1.5MW nuclear, steam, electrical and propulsion plants. Held national and
international Top Secret security clearances. Navy Nuclear Power Training
and Surface Warfare Officer Schools. Received back-to-back Operational
Reactor Safety Examination "Excellent" awards (a feat never before or since
achieved). Received the Battenberg Cup, two Battle Efficiency Awards, a
Meritorious Unit Award, the Top Hand Award and the Navy Expeditionary
Medal.
