development and testing of financial products

> Strong knowledge of C and C++, with expertise in building service

oriented, low latency applications

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Software Developer, Bloomberg, L.P, New York, NY

July, 2008 - Present

Design and develop client-facing functions on Bloomberg Terminal.

> Worked closely with Data Group and clients to develop tasks that

automate bond rating updates. Built an easy-to-debug task to parse

the incoming feeds and update core databases and generate relevant

reports. The tasks reduced the manual data entry effort by 50% by

processing about 5,000 - 10,000 feeds a day, with feeds coming in

intervals of 2-3 minutes.

> Re-engineered legacy functions into high speed applications using

service oriented architecture (C++ and JavaScript). The re-

engineering helped in getting rid of the dedicated hardware and

software that supported old functionality, resulting in more efficient

and low maintainence cost infrastructure.

> Designed and developed data intensive projects, with focus on

migrating huge amounts of data (3G-5G) from old legacy databases to

more optimized databases. Implemented functions that present core

municipal bond data to users in tabular and graphical form for easy

analysis and interpretation

> Highly involved in maintenance and support of core product

applications, with emphasis on testing and debugging. Strong

understanding of our team's products and hands on experience in

various technologies and programming languages used in the group

(Fortran, C, C++, JavaScript, GTK and shell scripting )

> Demonstrated leadership qualities by mentoring one of the developers

in my team

Intern, INSEAD Business School, Fontainebleau. France

Jan - June, 2006

Programmer of the INSEAD Social Science Research Center (ISSRC) lab

> Actively involved in the maintenance of the ISSRC website

> Worked in close association with the professors and PhD students of

the school on projects in Visual Basic, C and Cold Fusion

PROJECTS

Implementation of virtual software router

Aug-Dec, 2007

> Implemented a fully functional router that routes real internet

traffic and supports trace route, ping and web download

functionalities (in C).

> Also implemented a simple dynamic routing protocol, PWOSPF (Pee-Wee

Open Shortest Path First), so that routers automatically create their

forwarding tables based on the advertisements received from

neighboring routers.

Simulator for simplified DLX pipeline architecture

Aug-Dec, 2007

> Implemented simulators for four versions of the simplified five stage

DLX pipeline architecture in C, each version having some enhancement

over the previous one.

> Simulated partial and complete data forwarding along with branch

prediction. Compared the four versions by counting the total number of

cycles and number of stalls for a given input for each of the four

versions.

Implementation of MINIREL, a relational database engine Jan-

May, 2007

> Developed a relational database engine in C, which consisted of three

modules, namely, Heap File layer (HF layer), Access Method layer (AM

layer) and Front End layer (FE layer).

> Implemented indexing of databases to improve query response time and

used benchmarking to compare our results and optimize our design for

better performance.

Implementation of Log structured File System Aug-

Dec, 2006

> Studied in detail the features of a log structured file system and

implemented the same in C, as a part of the requirements of the course

Advanced Operating Systems.
