RELATED PROJECTS:
. Capstone:
. Developed a casting mold capable of producing fiber
reinforced elastomeric tensile specimens. The tensile
strength of these reinforced tensile specimens was compared
using three different fibers (Kevlar , glass fiber and carbon
fiber) with three matrixes (Polyurethane, silicone and
epoxy).
. Design:
. Designed and machined cavities for a two plate cold runner
mold.
. Designed specifications for an artificial pancreas improved
with a biosensor (polymer in medicine class).
. Designed an extrusion cross head die for three lumen
catheter.
. Systems Control:
. Quality control, analysis and optimization of an open and
closed loop system for a polycarbonate card thermal
imprinting machine.
. Other:
. Electrospun of ceramic filled nanofibers using solution and
melt electrospinning.
. Learned lean manufacturing tools and how to employ them to
decrease material handing, holding, ordering, and labor costs
in order to increase the efficiency of the facility.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
. SolidWorks, MasterCam, Mold Flow, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS
PowerPoint.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
. Hands-on experience in extrusion blow molding, injection molding,
thermoforming, single and twin screw extrusion, rubber injection
molding, the rotational molding processes, flat and blown films, and
recycling.
. Hands-on experience in polymer characterization: dilute solution
viscosity and Brookfield viscosity, gel permeation chromatography
(GPC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning
Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM),
Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Differential Scanning
Calorimetry (DSC) and melting point apparatus.
. Hands-on experience in different type of polymerizations: emulsion
polymerization of styrene, bulk polymerization of MMA, radical
copolymerization of styrene and MMA, interfacial polymerization of
nylon fibers, solution polymerization of polyester, bulk polyaddition
of silicone rubber, Sol-Gel polyaddition of polyurea and polyurethane
networks, and enzymatic polymerization.
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Research Engineer, Saint-Gobain Innovative Materials, R&D Center Northboro,
MA ( July 2010- Present)
. Work with the polymer characterization & thermal group to solve
customer issues with certain materials as well as determining average
molecular weight, material composition and thermal properties using
FTIR, UV-Vis, GC/MS, GPC, TGA, TMA, DMA, DSC and Rheometer
. Analyze competitors' products and create reverse engineering database
. Create a library for FTIR to identify unknown materials
. Analyze data and write customer reports
Product Designer, Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2),
Lowell, MA (September 2009- June 2010)
. Designed and prototyped medical devices such as catheters, needles,
scalps etc, using SolidWorks and prototype machine
