WORK EXPERIENCE
Graduate Projects, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ 2009-2010
. Designed a Microgrid that uses Solid Oxide fuel cells that can generate
up to 900 kW of electricity while utilizing the waste heat to improve the
overall efficiency of the system.
. Basic aim in designing the Microgrid is to implement design methods that
can optimize the reliability while minimizing the cost by cogeneration up
to $ 15000 every month.
. Designed a 5 kW Micro wind turbine for a facility at Rutgers University.
. Designed a 3 RPR planar parallel mechanism that can be used to move
different parts/objects in a limited space in manufacturing assembly
lines.
Trainee Engineer, F.C.L Unilever, Karachi, Pakistan 2008
. Recommended and provided appropriate design deviations in piping
erections for pumps.
. Made necessary changes on existing PFD's and drew new PFD's of the
process plant.
. Performed root cause analysis to identify and solve quality issues of the
plant as a part of cross-functional teams.
. Carried out risk assessment of the complete plant with a team and worked
for the removal of potential hazards.
. Commissioned high power pumps and new packaging machines to enhance the
power output of the plant from 80 tons/day to 120 tons/day.
Team Lead, Design of LPG Sweetening Plant Bosicor Oil Refinery, Pakistan
2007
. Designed all the vessels, heat exchangers and piping of the plant
according to ASME standards.
. Improved plant layout by introducing a new method to purify gas from
sulfur which resulted in cost and plant size reduction.
Trainee Intern, Pakistan International Airlines Karachi, Pakistan 2005-
2006
. Received practical training about the operation and maintenance of
Boeing and Airbus aircrafts.
. Gained valuable experience working with aircraft engineers and
technicians on hangars especially about the operation of gas turbines and
the materials used in designing and manufacturing the aircraft .
