To Whom it May Concern:
I am writing to apply for the Social Worker position for which I understand
you are recruiting. As you will see from my enclosed resume, I earned a
Social Work degree from Adelphi University and a Bachelors degree in Human
services from City College of NewYork. I have excelled at responsible jobs
that required me to supervise other professionals. I am currently employed
with Legal Services for New York City (Queens Office) a not-for-profit law
firm and have been for the past 19 years. I supervise the entire support
staff. I handle the day to day operations of the organization, train new
staff, screen resumes, for potential employment, interview prospective
candidates to ensure compliance of rules and regulations of the office, and
other related duties as assigned.
However, as an intern with the New York City Department of Corrections
located on Riker's Island, I provided short and long term counseling to
mental health inmates as well as inmates who did not have mental illness
that were housed in the Central Punitive Segregation Unit on issues such
as, but not limited to drug programs, goals upon release, discharge
planning, family issues, completion of psychosocial assessments, and group
facilitation. I also assisted with marriage applications, death and
critically ill notices, and any issues that may arise, such as; counseling
inmates with mental health issues. I was also assigned to the grievance
unit. In that unit, I assisted the grievance supervisor to investigate
cases within the Department of Correction to determine the validity of the
grievant.
You will find me to be a dynamic communicator with a capacity for hard and
long hours. I hope you will contact me at 718-***-**** to suggest a
convenient time for us to meet and discuss your current and future needs
and how I might serve them. Thanking you in advance.
Sincerely,
Lissette Claudio
