Senior Programmer/ Analyst

Improved, corrected, and enhanced multiple property/casualty claim

processing systems. Collected valuable historical data for major carriers

and third party administrators. Developed annual data for Workers

Compensation Research Institute. Trained staff in specific applications.

. Created and implemented critical changes to the T-Mate System, which

manages the entire life cycle of workers compensation claims after the

notice of loss. T-Mate is a distributed, object-oriented application

written in C++. Significantly improved the ability to capture and

transmit more precise and accurate claim data.

. Designed and created relevant data files used for workers compensation

fraud detection by Workers Compensation Research Institute, as well as

files for a law firm involved in a specific federal case. Effort

involved COBOL mainframe programs.

. Modified and ran a complicated COBOL batch process that locked, unlocked

and relocked policies and claims assumed by other carriers. Ensured that

no financial transactions were mistakenly applied to non-Travelers

claims.

. Developed program to explain out of balances in a "Triangle Balance"

system. This COBOL program provided accurate information for locating

sources of critical out of balance situations.

. Performed key maintenance work on Host System (CPCS, written in COBOL)

that processed claims through entire life cycle. Initiated changes that

provided timely and more accurate support for major state reporting

requirements.

Aetna Life & Casualty 1982

Responsible in the national accounts area for development of essential

computer systems for premium audit, and applied loss retro billing systems.

Worked with multiple data- bases: IMS, IDMS, DB2. Received three

promotions in first four years in recognition of outstanding job

. Key contributor on team that developed very successful Premium and Loss

Retro Billing system (mainframe) for national accounts. This COBOL

system was chosen as a model for new system design and rewrites.

. Successfully maintained a complex predictive system called Cashflow.

System applied multiple statistical techniques that determined

appropriate insurance reserve levels versus money available for

investments.

. Significant contributor on team that created and implemented a mainframe

Premium Audit System, first successful CICS-based system for Aetna's

national accounts area. System was written in CICS Command Level COBOL.

. Successfully self-taught in FORTRAN; this led to maintenance of important

Workers Compensation Rate Quote and Schedule system. Substantially

improved system's flexibility, which in turn was instrumental in securing

and retaining large accounts.
