My wife and I both retired in 2007 and moved aboard a sailboat and traveled around the Northwest Caribbean until this
year, when we bought a house in Mobile, Alabama.

AVAILABILITY ARCHITECTURE MANAGER (January 2004 – May 2007)
I am currently manager of Availability Architecture on the Availability Management team. My main responsibilities are the
identification and analysis of problematic production software systems, and developing recommendations for improving
stability and availability. I have a very small team of technical specialists and matrix manage virtual teams of SMEs for
each application under investigation.
APPLICATION ADMINISTRATION MANAGER (October 2001 – December 2003)
I was manager of Application Administration (AppAdmin) for all of the Wireless Division’s Customer Solutions and Sales
& Distribution applications, including Premiere, PBS, Wizard, Impact, CTI Voice, CTI Multimedia, RMS+, PCS Fast,
APC, and various other applications. I managed 10 direct reports, 5 of which were supervisors, for a total team size of
about 65. AppAdmin provided 24x7 on-call support for the various applications used in both internal and vendor call
centers, Sprint PCS stores, and 3rd party retail partners such as Radio Shack.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER (September 2000 – October 2001)
As team lead for the Premiere Tuxedo middleware team, I was responsible for creating a 24x7 support capability for the
Premiere middleware. After building a team of 11, we were able to completely re-write the Premiere Tuxedo code (C++) to
greatly enhance scalability, reduce system resource requirements, improve response time, and enhance supportability (we
replaced 189 executables of 9 MB each with 1 executable of 65 KB). We also developed automated monitoring scripts for
the production environment to collect metrics for performance analysis and provide proactive alarming for fault conditions.

As a consultant on contract to Sprint, I was responsible for configuration and support of the Tuxedo middleware layer of
the Premiere application.

As team leader of the client/server architecture team, I coordinated activities of the seven team-members. The architecture
team was responsible for an enterprise-wide, three-tier architecture based on BEA Tuxedo. I supported application
developers in both client (Powerbuilder, Java) and server (C, C++) development by providing dll’s, shared objects, coding
templates and standards, technical advice and troubleshooting/debugging help. I also provided 24x7 support for our
production environment, which was accessed by both internal users (Yellow Freight System employees) via Powerbuilder
front-ends and external clients via the internet.

PROGRAMMER ANALYST
I provided task management and senior programming and analysis support related to the entire life cycle of functionally
oriented IS and advanced technologies. The work was inclusive of large-scale computers, mini-computers, and
microcomputers in a centralized or distributed environment in real time or batch mode. As a task manager, I provided
leadership and direction for large tasks and worked independently as a technical expert on small tasks. I developed
resource estimates and schedules, made detailed subtask assignments to other members of the team, coordinated
accomplishment of these subtasks; monitored, controlled and coordinated the work of other team members assigned to the
task and provided instruction to team members on technical aspects of the task.
My main project involved reengineering the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation’s (FCIC) information system. FCIC was
migrating from an IDMS database on a mainframe computer to a client/server environment consisting of an Informix
database residing on a Sun SparcCenter 2000 (16 processors) connected through 17 UNIX servers to the local area network.
The information system and business processes were being modeled from the ground up for the new environment using
Erwin and Bpwin case tools. Client/server applications were developed using PowerBuilder.

PROGRAMMER ANALYST
I performed data and process modeling based on IDEF0 and IDEF1X methodologies using Logic Works’ Erwin and Bpwin
tools. Working from the data and process models, I designed and developed Windows-based applications to allow FCIC
personnel to query and maintain an Informix database residing on a Sun platform. Application development performed
using PowerBuilder. Provided support and training in PowerBuilder to FCIC’s programmers involved in the application
development. Duties also included the installation and maintenance of hardware and software on four PC’s, maintaining
the local point-to-point network and a high-speed remote TCP/IP connection to a Sun server.

I applied percolation theory to simulations of the large-scale structure of the universe to achieve a quantitative definition of
