Special Investigator.
To independently plan, coordinate and conduct complex and sensitive
national security investigations. Interview subjects in reference to
admitted and unadmitted criminal histories, civil offenses,
financial/bankruputcy matters, employment fraud, alcohol/drug use and abuse
and other developed issues. Conduct research and gather and analyze
information on legal, employment, financial, medical and other background
related issues to determine their credibility and authenticity. Also,
research, review and obtain records from police, courts, substance abuse
treatment providers, federal/state agencies and military organizations.
Interview collateral sources such as law enforcement sources, doctors,
mental health/drug-alcohol counselors, lawyers, financial
representatives,etc to complete investigations. Complete detailed reports
of investigation on the above and obtain affadavits as needed. Also, train
new Investigators on DoD/OPM reporting requirements and direct as needed.
Maintain liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to
obtain information for the above investigations.

Conduct random property searches of entering/exiting
baggage,shipments,personal belongings, etc to safeguard against possible
violations and confiscate certain items to comply with DoD and company
regulations. Review shipping papers, manifests and delivery confirmations
to ensure sensitive/classified information is protected. Perform physical
security patrols in areas with classified and secret materials in support
of DoD mission and resolve any security irregularities. Assist with COMSEC

To patrol VA properties and perform law enforcement, investigative and
physical security duties to protect people, property and their civil
rights. Respond to crimes in progress, assaults, disorderly conduct, auto
accidents, mental health patients, larcenies, preliminary criminal
investigations, calls for service, etc. Arrest, book and process the above
offenders. Also, investigate complaints of injuries, illnesses and other
emergencies and initiate actions against alleged violators.Obtain witness
statements, collect, log and preserve evidence. Complete uniform offense
reports and other reports on a regular basis. Enforce US Codes and Code of
Federal Regulations (CFR's) and state, local and assimilated acts through
MOU's with various agencies. Assist with drug audits and pharmacy
inspections to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Perform physical
security duties/surveys to ensure patient and visitor safety. This includes
reporting on deficiencies and reporting on same to be corrected. Also,
limiting the number of exits after hours and keeping a log of visitors to
control personnel. Prepare cases for adjudication through the US Attorneys
Office and District Court. Assist other federal/state law enforcement
agencies as well as VA personnel when needed. Attend in-service training
along with related duties.
