TECHNICAL AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE (Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.,
acquired The 401(k) Company in 2007):
. Designed and implemented a redundant core routing/switching
environment using Cisco Catalyst 6509 devices in our Austin and Denver
Datacenters with redundant WAN circuits (2010).
. Served as Technical Lead of a project team that moved equipment for
approximately 400 users out of a downtown facility to a north Austin
location which has saved the company considerably in real estate
costs. Also had to decommission and safely dispose of a datacenter
and all the servers, voice, and network equipment within. This
project involved a lot of engineering in the form of new and re-
groomed circuits, routing changes, new servers, new network equipment,
etc. to maintain 100% availability before, during, and after the move.
Met a hard deadline which avoided expensive fees that a delay would
have incurred (2009).
. Served as Technical Lead of a project team that migrated approximately
400 user mailboxes from The 401(k) Company email servers to Schwab
email, blackberry, and chat servers. Significant mail routing changes
were required since so many applications used our mail services. Also
archived and eliminated pst data files and retired the 401k email
infrastructure (2008).
. Served as Technical Lead in an Active Directory Domain migration
project. Worked through a myriad of issues with Infosys Consultants
to move all user and computer accounts, security groups, etc. from the
401k domain to the Schwab domain (2007).
. Designed and implemented migration to Schwab security standards
involving the installation of Marimba on all workstations for patch
management (BigFix for servers), McAfee antivirus, Credant for laptop
hard drive encryption, and Computrace for theft/loss recovery of
laptops (2007).
. Designed and implemented a more secure and redundant Citrix SSL VPN
and Citrix Presentation Server environment to replace the Microsoft
VPN for remote access (2006).
. Designed and implemented a fault tolerant secure email system to
integrate with Exchange and our Client-facing websites using Talisma,
Doubletake (OneSwitch), and Microsoft SQL Server (2006).
. Implemented mail archival, spam/virus blocking, and the Emergency Mail
System with Smarsh and MessageOne (2006).
. Implemented replication of all Microsoft Exchange and SQL servers
using Doubletake software and the MessageOne OneSwitch add-on service
for seamless failover and failback (2006).
. Implemented replication of all Windows file servers using Doubletake
Software.
. Replaced legacy FTP server with the much more secure Enhanced File
Transfer server by Globalscape which supports SFTP, HTTPS, FTP, and
PGP encryption/decryption along with notification emails and file
copies/moves via automated rules.
. Configured and maintained Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2000 and 5.5
Servers, including migration.
. Creation of redundant SMTP gateway servers in multiple locations using
IIS with Mail Essentials anti-spam and virus protection software.
. Installed and configured Blackberry Enterprise Server for Exchange and
installed/managed handheld units for approximately 80 users.
. Designed and implemented a fault tolerant multi-site network using
Catalyst 6509 Switches with redundant route switch modules at multiple
datacenters housing our mission-critical applications and servers.
. Established site-to-site IPSec VPN's with client and partner companies
using Cisco Pix firewalls and Cisco 3600 and 2600 series routers.
. Installed and configured a Catalyst 6009 switch with redundant route
switch modules. Migrated LAN from one flat private IP address scheme
to a multi-subnetted network using VLAN's across multiple switches via
a common VTP domain.
. Coordinated and implemented installation of DS3 and DS1 internet and
point-to-point circuits with multiple vendors using the following
equipment: Cisco routers and firewalls, Nokia IP650 running Firewall-
1/VPN-1, and Lucent Bricks.
. Worked in a team to establish a change management and helpdesk
solution for the software development side of the company and our own
department using IBM Rational Clearquest and Microsoft SQL Server.
Specifically, my role was to install and maintain the server and
develop the application it hosted using a GUI development environment
and Visual Basic.
. Designed and implemented a MS Systems Management Server site. This
allowed for hardware and software inventory, remote control, and
software distribution on all network clients and servers.
. Disaster recovery of mission critical servers on several occasions.
. Implemented virus protection and automatic virus definition updates on
all servers and workstations using Symantec Antivirus and McAfee
Netshield/Groupshield.
. Configured and maintained Microsoft Remote Access Server for user
access to the internal LAN via VPN or modem dial-up.
. Configured and maintained FTP server using WS_FTP server software.
. Configured and responded to extensive system and service monitoring
system using Sitescope and Siteseer software.
. Responsible for backup and recovery of all Windows servers using
Legato Networker.
. Implemented Sybase, Access, and Microsoft SQL Server for numerous in-
house application servers - responsible for maintenance and backup of
said databases.
. Designed and implemented a variety of automated electronic data
transmissions with client companies and trading partners utilizing one
or more of the following technologies: batch files, PGP encryption,
FTP, site to site VPN, Blat, Procomm Plus, Hyperaccess, Windows
Scheduler (winat), NFS, Samba, rsh, and UNIX cron jobs.

Active Directory Domain from Windows NT.
