This was my first introduction to OOP. At this time I started a small business with an Internet front end where customers could order posters.

2005 - Begin BFA at NMU

I began my BFA education at NMU. I declared my concentration as photography knowing that it would be my responsibility to educate myself in web development beyond the courses of my BFA program.

2006 - Intro to Graphics (course) NMU

This class presented me with refined critiques on typography, spatial relationships and social associations.

2006 - Electronic Imaging (course) NMU

This class gave me experience with the entire Adobe suite and intense creative skills in rendering graphics in Photoshop.

2007 - Advanced Graphics / Web Design (course) NMU

During this course I became extremely proficient with Adobe Illustrator and the creation of vector graphics. The course also exposed me to AS3 as the final project for this course was an immersive flash website run on AS3.

2008 - Website Construction (course) NMU

This course was code-centric and was part of the CS dpt. I was taught in this class the importance of syntax and coding standards.

2009 - ActionScript 3.0 in Flash CS4 Professional for Designers (course)

I take it upon myself to continue my education in professional coding languages.

2009 - Flash CS4 Professional Object-Oriented Programming (course)

I take it upon myself to continue my education in OOP and its strengths. Lynda.com course.

2009 - Completed BFA at NMU

2009 - PHP With MySQL Essential Training (course)

I began to realize after my experience with OOP AS3 that I was intensely drawn toward

website dynamics. Once I realized the power of PHP and its ability to succeed across platforms I continued to devote my time to everything PHP. Lynda.com course.

2009 - PHP With MySQL Beyond The Basics (course)

Best practices and more complex structures along with object inheritance.

2009 - MySQL Essential Training (course)

Continuing my personal development I realize comfort with MySQL databases is crucial to

overall success with OOP PHP. Lynda.com course.

2010 - iPhone SDK Essential Training (course)

I needed to know how programs on mobile devices were implemented. The topic of mobile

optimization had come up several times in my previous work. This was also a great introduction to Objective C programming for me. I plan to explore this language more in the future. Lynda.com course.

2010 - Apress Pro CSS and HTML Design Patterns 2007 (textbook)

This deepened my knowledge of pseudo selectors and design patterns for using CSS.

2010 - PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites 2007 (textbook)

This book greatly improved my understanding of a PHP developers role and responsibilities.

Input validation, relational database management, request overhead reduction and general security precautions are key to successful web applications.

2010 - Apress PHP Objects Patterns And Practice (textbook)

This book expanded my understanding of OOP principals in PHP. Knowing the operators

and object properties freed me to develop flexible, reusable classes

2010 - Secure PHP Development Building Practical Applications (textbook)

This book covered best practices and security issues in depth and extended my knowledge a

great amount.
