There no longer is an IT department at this location. Fiskars is a major manufacturer of
many different home products. The plant in Apopka manufactured home and garden
products that can be found in many home improvement stores today. I was hired as a
contractor to assist with Fiskars project to convert their existing Computer Associates
AS/400 PRMS Accounting and Warehouse Boss Inventory applications to JDE One
World. The first part of this project included converting data from a RISC/6000 to the
JDE interface Access database. We developed a method, utilizing programs written by
another consultant at the RISC/6000 site that created flat files, to load data into an
Access database I created with tables similar to the JDE interface database. We then
used FTP and local AS400 servers to hold and move the data into the appropriate JDE
interface tables for eventual uploading to the JDE interface environment on the
corporate server.
