Experience
I have 22 years experience working within a Civil Engineering environment,
* ***** ** **** experience has been in Construction Management /Inspection.
I started in 1987 as a Surveyor and I was most recently the Construction
Services Manager/Construction Inspector for a large Florida based Civil
Engineering Company that closed their southwest Florida office due to the
bad economy. Most of our projects were consulting for Sarasota County and
City of Sarasota. I have worked for four years on the design and inspection
Phillippi Creek Septic System Replacement Program, among other SARCO
projects, so I am very familiar with Sarasota County Standards,
Specifications and Procedures. I also have known and worked with several
Sarasota County Engineers and Inspectors that would vouch for my
competence. I have a tremendous amount of a large variety of
Civil/Structural Engineering based experience in between. I have experience
designing bridges, site design, land development, roads, reclaim water,
water, storm and waste water including vacuum main, force main, gravity
main and waste water lift stations and roads using Autocad and
Microstation. I am also very proficient in Microsoft Office applications. I
am dependable, a quick learner and have a good eye for detail.
My responsibilities as Construction Services Manager were Construction
Contract Documents, Permitting, processing Shop Drawings, cost estimates
and quantities. Construction Inspection and Certifications on public works
and private projects involving construction of City, County and F.D.O.T.
roadways, bridges, force mains, water mains, gravity mains, vacuum mains,
pumping stations and master lift stations. I also perform constructability
reviews on plans and specifications according to State (FDPE) and Sarasota
County regulations. I monitor and report Contractor's activities and
address issues and resolve problems in the field. I perform field testing
such as leakage air testing & pressure testing. I process Contractor
Payment Requests, review as-built Record Drawings, process contractor pay
requests, maintain accurate Daily Inspection Reports and attended bid
openings, pre-construction meeting and site meeting. I worked as a Field
Supervisor on the FEMA Disaster Relief Hurricane Ike Project in Galveston
Texas and am still willing to travel as needed. I have knowledge of FDOT
Design standards, Florida Green Book, AASHTO Standards, including MUTCD.
Before being promoted to Construction Services Manager my title was Senior
Transportation/Utility Designer. I am very proficient in AutoCAD and
Microstation. I am able to create Roadway Plans, Cross Sections, Plan and
Profiles, Utility Plans, MOT Plans, Traffic Calming Plans, As-Built Record
Drawings, Channelization and Signalization Plans. I acquired most of my
Civil Engineering knowledge while employed by King County Department of
Transportation in Seattle Washington. I began my career at KCDOT at Surface
Water Management then I lateral over to the Roads/Bridges Design Division
and eventually to Construction Services where I was a Construction
Inspector on road and bridge construction projects. I have a well rounded
experience working within a Civil Engineering environment. I attended many
KCDOT, WDOT and University of Washington Civil Engineering Certification
classes, provided by King County, including but not limited to GIS Arcview,
Construction Site Erosion and Spill Control, Flagger, CPR, Channelization
and Signalization, Construction Management Contract Provisions, Subsurface
Utility Engineering and Advanced Pavement Design. I worked in Bellevue
Washington on a WDOT two year road project contract designing a roadway
using Microstation. After completing my contract the company hired me on
permanently in their Survey Department as a Utility Mapper. Before moving
to Washington State, I was employed as a Cad Manager/Engineering Technician
by a Structural Engineering Company located in downtown Chicago. I
preformed bridge and seawall inspections and created Bridge Design Plans
using AutoCAD. As mentioned above, I started my career as part of a Survey
Field Crew and eventually advanced to an Engineer Technician working with
Civil Soft Engineering programs including Survey, Cogo and Contour.
