services, for consulting firm that offers clients research and analysis and
litigation support on economic, legal and policy issues. (Two separate
consecutive internships.)
Research Assistant (2014)
. Developed Pythonic web crawlers to extract property and land records from
JavaScript-based county websites.
. Automated econometric analysis to calculate disparity ratio for contracts
issued by the city of Philadelphia. Generated and utilized STATA do-
files.
. Estimated economic impact of construction and operations of an Embassy
Suites hotel in Baltimore, MD, using IMPLAN.
. Measured comprehensive regional tourism industry by collecting and
analyzing data, and generating maps with ArcGIS. Performed this for two
separate studies, including one on the tourism industry in Houston for
Houston First Corporation, and another study of Philadelphia for the PEW
Charitable Trust.
. Performed a comparative qualitative analysis of likely economic impacts
of retail development at potential sites in southern Chicago, utilizing
data from ESRI.
Research Intern (2013)
. Conducted research and analysis to measure the size of Detroit's food
system and estimate potential economic impact of localizing 25 percent of
potential food supplies through import substitution.
. Estimated overall magnitude of economic impacts associated with municipal
waste collection, transportation and disposal in Pennsylvania. Utilized
input/output modeling software.
. Researched demand generators for overnight tourism in downtown Seattle to
supplement an application for EB-5 funding.
