data growth pattern, consult with the Data owner on data purges, and work

closely with the Storage team when more space is needed for future growth,

mass load or temporary assignments

Perform weekly, written Snap/Vault backup audits for all servers

Ensure that the standard Snapshot and SnapVault backups are set up and

functioning properly for all environments

Work with the Storage team to make sure that the backups are retained on

NearStore and tapes according to the SLAs

Resolve all environment errors, traces and issues

Monitor database alerts, traces and environment issues and resolve them

accordingly

Escalate to other DBAs on the team if needed

Plan, perform or assist other DBAs with Environment builds and/or changes

due to new projects, migrations, upgrades, patches, issues, or improvements

Create and maintain environment specific Run documentation that outlines

important information such as job schedules, setup and configuration

Understand the business side of the environment, its applications and

database functionality, and its baseline load

Understand the network topography between the client application and the

database servers, the types of hardware and OS used, as well as hardware

and software versions, capacities, limitations and compatibilities

Demonstrate leadership, technical strategy, good communication skills,

Review and promote technical standards, rules and procedures, and recommend

improvement across all DBMS platforms
