Project Description & Contribution:
California Membership data mart (CAMDM)
This membership data mart is needed for Market Planning and forecasting. It
is able to meet new compliance and audit standards as downstream data is
reported to regulatory bodies. It improved ease of use and empowered users
to produce reports more quickly and to perform more sophisticated studies
more easily. Key roll-up constructs for reporting were incorporated into
this data mart.
The goal for the CaMDM project was to a) Populate the data mart's
interactive sector from the FS extract data files. b) Extract Interactive
sector data, apply business rules and populate the analytical sector which
was the reporting core.
. Successfully turned around this $2 million project to meet customer
satisfaction goals. . Met the project SLAs by cutting down the processing
time significantly from a seven day run time window to a 8hr window. .
Re-engineered the entire process for a quicker turnaround time. . Improved
process performance through multi-way/parallel execution steps. . Increased
customer satisfaction levels through on-time publishing of quality data. .
On time dispatch of reports for business decisions.

Health Care Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)
Provide information to support administration of the 213D and Health Plan
Covered HRA FI products utilizing Bank of America as the HRA Administrator
for Kaiser. The Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) Fully Insured
Expansion and Migration initiative is intended to address employers overall
need for new solutions to lower healthcare costs and members need to
actively manage their health and healthcare dollars. Provide daily reporting
capability applying the required business rules to extracted qualified
membership records out of the EDW.
. Helped the business in the on-time launch of this major product in several
markets. . Supported in defining standard set of business rules for data
pulls from various source systems. . Guided the technical team in design,
development and implementation. . Coached the technical team in improving
query/ETL performance. . Increased customer satisfaction levels due to
on-time dispatch of eligible members list to downstream processes.
Medicare Letter Optimization extracts
The Medicare Letters Optimization Project intended to replace or
substantially replace the current Medicare correspondence functionality as
it exists today in the three core membership systems: Foundation Systems
(FS), Common Membership (CM), and The Membership System (TMS) in order to
streamline the processes and achieve cost savings for all KP regions.
Provide extracts out of the three core membership systems applying
qualifying rules for letter eligibility. Generate the required reports for
letter generation by the downstream letter printing processes.
. Managed/managing the 1.5 million dollars MLO project to meet the
requirements of dispatching Medicare eligible letters to the Kaiser Members.
. Helped standardize eligibility business rules across various source
systems. . Achieved cost savings by bringing in the current source system
functionality into MLO extracts process. . Support planning, design,
development and implementation of this mega project.
Medicare Letter Optimization data mart
This data mart was designed to host Member and Medicare information. It
addressed the needs for member correspondence associated with the following
business processes: 1) Medicare Member Enrollment, dis-enrollment and
Terminations. 2) Medicare Premium Billing. 3) Membership Dues Reconciliation
and 4) Delinquency.
. Developed MLODM central repository to make available a solution that
integrated data from various Membership source systems. . Supported
planning, analysis, data modeling, design, development and implementation.
Enterprise Data warehouse (EDW)
The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) is a production data warehouse
application. Its objective is to provide data, from multiple regions, in
the EDW ODS (staging area) and EDW Membership Thin Slice (MTS), an
integrated model. The data is extracted by customer projects for their
downstream processing i.e. data marts for reporting and analysis. EDW
customers are provided with data from multiple regions in one data warehouse
instead of multiple databases per region. This allows customers to extract
and process data efficiently and timely. For various projects EDW is the
central source for information hence in-depth analysis of the data available
in EDW was the first step towards fulfilling the requirements of a given
project.
. Integrated the Membership System (TMS) source into EDW mainstream. .
Analyzed the models/processes to define/modify entities/relationships. .
Supervised the design and implementation of the solution.
E-card data marts
Set of data marts to help build a dashboard for Southern California region
that delivers actionable information to Southern California Regional
Executives and Senior Leadership. The dashboard allows leadership to track
regional performance.
UBT Performance e-Card: Measures are geared toward front line Labor and
Management staff performance, available to all staff, executives and
physicians in KP Southern California Region
Performance e-Card: Apart from the measures available through UBT
Performance additional measures related to finance and utilization is part
of this project.
. Challenge was to revamp the existing non-working design to make the entire
process meet the expectations and to increase the customer confidence
levels. . Helped the project team with the re-engineering effort, as an SME
guided the team in achieving the project goals. . Increased customer
satisfaction through consistent data quality and facilitating on-time
reporting.
Inter-Regional Analytical data mart (IRAD)
This data mart is used to support the Partnership in Health (PIH) initiative
and support other Customer / Employer Group Reporting requirements. The data
is integrated from several sources and summarized at a member level and
group level by key service categories. It provides answers related
membership, fee schedule amts, cost, clinical chronic condition and
prevention measures.
. Highly critical business reports were being generated out of so called
Pseudo-prod env. The challenge was to take deploy this env into production
with minimum downtime. . Guided this major project for a successful
deployment to production. . Provided required sizing, cost estimates, task
planning details etc. . Improved satisfaction via on-time availability of
quality data to fulfill customer reporting needs.

Project Description:
Enterprise Data warehouse (EDW) project portfolio:
Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) is an infrastructure driven project, with
the goal to design and build a central data warehouse to facilitate
migration of existing DW silos into a single repository of historical data
at the atomic level that is cleansed, reconciled and integrated. EDW's
underlying architecture uses the associative model (Universal model) to
enhance integrity and low maintenance for dynamic sources.
Federal Trades Commission (FTC) Saves Compliance Letter project portfolio:
The FTC Saves Compliance Letter project will provide a stable, more robust
solution to the creation of FTC-mandated direct mail or email to members
who have attempted to cancel but then agrees to continue their service. The
Direct Mail outlines the conditions of their online service (and Web
Property Premium Service) at the time of their save event, any outstanding
free time balance on their account, as well as information on how the
member can cancel their account.
Data Marts (Member DM, Valista DM, Snap DM, Omniture DM):
These Data-Marts (DMs) are the reporting backbone for AOL data warehouse.
All reporting applications in DW are dependent on these DMs for their
individual data needs. Quality data needs to be housed and maintained in
these DMs in order to fulfill downstream reporting needs.
. Successfully coordinated and delivered EWFM (Enterprise Work Force
Management) source data into EDW. . Provided design/direction to deliver on
snap (SDM), member detail data-mart's (MDM) from EDW. . Developed ETL
modules to extract, transform and load data into the warehouse & data
marts. . Provided database support in creating the physical schema, query
optimization and user access. . Developed jobs and job-schedules for
triggering events. . Worked closely with project managers, help develop
project plans, help resolve conflicts in a cross functional team
environment; provide technical guidance, and ensure quality/on-time
delivery of projects. . Used Quality Engineering tools such as software
inspections, facilitated design sessions, code-reviews etc. to deliver on
project quality.
