Greetings from Sweden!
I contact you as a candidate for the Corporate Facilities Environmental Sustainability Director. I fit many of the characteristics of the described applicant and have over nine years of experience in management roles, a strong understanding of the functioning of (especially) large organizations and have experience in integrating principles of sustainability into a corporation’s business decisions.
Some people travel the world when they take ‘a year-off.' I chose to take the opportunity to learn full-time again (on educational LOA), live abroad (Sweden, my wife’s home country), and to take the right position when it arises. This may be one such position.
My background is in operations and my ability to create, execute and communicate strategy stems from my beginnings as an organizational manager and from my most recent position engaging larger groups about sustainability. As someone who has been in management positions in both operations and operations support (planning, HR, environmental), I relate to different roles and perspectives and am better able to build relationships and foster cooperation.
My interest in meeting new people and experiencing different cultures has brought me to a handful of places around the world. These experiences have cultivated my interest in helping establish a new, more responsible business ethic.
I have a passion for making our society more sustainable and truly believe that the biggest opportunity lies in starting with the small decisions, from what pens to buy for the office to exactly what materials to use for a building foundation. With this belief in mind, I reached out to many within United, a company of 50,000 employees and was able to effect some important decisions that reduced our environmental impact while many times, reducing future risk and saving money. At the same time, my efforts made many more proud about working for United.
I will do the same with my next place of employment. If you might want a driven, social and well-balanced leader for this position, please give me a call to discuss.
Warm Regards,
Derek L. Diener
