group from June 2005 until January 2009, and as team lead
in 1998 and 1999. Tasks included scheduling, researching,
writing, leading the document project team, and
coordinating documentation efforts through all phases of
development until delivery to the regions and posting to
the web at product release.

Title: Technical Writer (Contract Independent Consultant)
Duties: Producing documentation for the Accounts Receivable
Tracking System (ARTS), a Windows-based, client/server
database application for the Texas Department of Human
Services. ARTS was an automated AR system used by TDHS
offices statewide to track and process collections
resulting from over-issuances to Agency clients and
providers. I produced over 50 documents, including an end-
user reference guide, within a span of 20 months. Tasks
included designing and setting up document formats; writing
and editing; coordinating writing team efforts; and
producing, assembling, and maintaining the finalized
documents.

Title: Information Developer (Supplemental position).
Duties: Writing and editing user documentation, both hardcopy and
hypertext, for IBM's AIX Operating System. Responsible for
developing device information for the AIX System Management
Guide for release 3.2.5 of the AIX product. Also
responsible for assembling copyright information for all
manuals in the 3.2.5 release and for defining the copyright
process for the department.

Duties: Writing and editing technical user manuals, proposals, and
miscellaneous documents for various TI computer products
including TI System V, System 1000 Series, Telecomm, TI PC,
and PC AI. Writing duties included research and writing;
data-gathering from developers; and coordinating all
activities involved in producing the final user documents.
Editing duties focused on document quality through
adherence to TI publication standards.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
* Served as both a PowerEdge Team Lead and Product Lead for the Dell
Enterprise server product line. Responsible for the development and
overall project management of the product line's documentation.
* Served as lead writer for a complete document set (over 4000 pages)
for TI's System V (UNIX) product.
* Provided documentation support (writing, editing, design, and
formatting) for over 30 multi-million dollar proposals.
* Produced 50+ documents for the Accounts Receivable Tracking System
development effort. Defined and completely set up documentation
standards and formats for this project, and created all page layout
components and styles in the publishing software (WordPerfect).
* Received a number of STC Technical Communication Awards, including
the Distinguished award in 2006 and in 1989, and an Achievement
award in the International Online Communication Competition in
1998.
* Assembled copyright registration information for the AIX document
set for release 3.2.5. Helped define a new, much-simplified process
for copyright handling and registration.
* Served on a number of documentation quality teams at Dell,
including a comprehensive review team to incorporate minimalism
into Dell's reusable documentation modules. Achieved an overall 30%
reduction in word count.
