As part of R&D-to-manufacturing process, responsible for thermal mapping of
pre-production laptop computers, including those in carrying cases.
. Conducted testing to determine reliability under computer
specification limits..
. Wrote test reports on results of testing.
. Equipment / processes used: Temperature and humidity test performed in
Atlas and CSZ (Cincinnati Sub Zero) environmental chambers. Shock and
vibration test were performed by Data Physics vibration table. For
temperature testing used ViewLab program.
. Tested computer's microphone and laud speakers in the temperature
range 0 to 35
Deg C.
Responsible for thermal troubleshooting of customers' computers in the
field that either had electrostatic discharge erased storage data or were
physically melted as a result of excess heat.
. Troubleshoot, identified the problem, and determined solutions for
implementation in present or future designs. This included recreating
the problem and testing the boards to the component level.
Responsible for notebook testing batteries and reporting results to reduce
negative incidents.
. Tested batteries for life expectations and power consumptions when
laptops were designed to be configured with different peripherals.
. Performed troubleshooting / analysis of batteries under non-normal
notebook usage conditions.
. Developed numerous special adapters for measuring electrical
parameters for computers and associated batteries, battery chargers,
etc.
Responsible for analyzing failure trends in certain time periods or for
computer families.
. Conducted failure analysis on computers based on monthly data
extracted from repair center database.
