PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Researcher - Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) (June 2010 -

Present)

. Formulation of nanoparticles and investigation of uptake by Caco-2 cells

. Investigation of permeability of high molecular weight molecules through

the Caco-2 monolayers grown on Transwells for 21 days

o Insulin stability by SDS-PAGE, HPLC, circular dichroism, fluorescence

-> Techniques used: Zetasizer, freeze dryer, varioskan multimode

reader, flow cytometry, confocal microscope, fluorescence microscope

PhD in Pharmaceutics -Royal college of Surgeons in Ireland (April 2007 -

April 2010)

. Formulation and evaluation of novel fast disintegrating tablet

formulation

o Fast disintegrating tablet (FDT) formulation was applied to modified

release microparticles of diclofenac sodium prepared by spray drying

> Mathematical fit of the drug release profile by SPSS statistical

tool

> Formulation assessed in dogs for palatability, in-vivo

disintegration time.

o The formulation also applied to hydrophobic drug, simvastatin

> Co-spray dried solid dispersions of simvastatin were investigated

for solid state properties, subsequently selected for formulation as

FDTs

> Investigational Medicinal Product Dossier (IMPD) submitted to Irish

medicines board (IMB) was approved for the human clinical trials.

The simvastatin formulation was then contract manufactured to a GMP

UK based company and clinical trials carried out by Shandon Clinical

trials Ltd, Ireland.

-> Techniques used: Some of the instruments used include, Tablet

press (RIVA piccolo), Spray dryer (Buchi), DSC, TGA, FT-IR, XRD, HSM,

HPLC

-> Statistical skills: MS Office including Microsoft excel, SPSS 15 -

t test,

independent t test, paired t test and one way ANOVA

-> Design of experiments (DOE), response surface methodology

-> Application: The fast disintegrating formulation was successfully

applied to Atorvastatin, Carprofen, Zolmitriptan and Captopril

(paediatrics) as part of the Commercialisation Grant objectives and

external company work.

. I was employed as a production supervisor in Capsule production in cGMP,

UKMHRA approved facility. Trained in Injectable, QC and QA department.

o Capsule production, product cycle time, assuring product quality,

yield, troubleshooting any issues during production

o Continuous improvement projects, cost-efficiency studies

o Compliance with regulatory requirements. To manage multiple priorities

o Filling and maintaining batch manufacturing records,

o Liaise with the raw material, QC, and packaging departments to ensure

smooth production and packaging of the batch

. Initially I was employed in the Tablet production department and then

transferred to the capsule department due to a change in production plan.
