Projects: Besides project mentioned above (i.e. Test Case Management,

Solaro), some more projects completed by me using RoR only are detailed

here.

Sugar Stats (URL: http://www.sugarstas.com): The project was based on

different entries (e.g. food, med, doctors etc) for diabetic patients. I

implemented data pulling for different entries in form of API and also

worked on OAuth, Restful authentication and LDAP authentication. I greatly

worked on writing test cases for all entries using RSpec and Shoulda also.

Cheese Express (URL: http://www.cheeseexpress.co.in): Completely

independent development of project cheese express. I solely worked on the

project from very beginning to the end. It includes database design, front

end development (worked on layout, javascripts, GUI design, jquery etc.).

It's a dynamic + static website, dynamism is reserved for admin. The

project comprises a beautiful demonstration of use of gems and plugins.

3itwise: The project was based on product (plugin is a product) marketing.

The whole website is developed in php. I implemented the Multiple Buy

demo application generated by me to present the programming skills to a

company as a test. The whole functionality was generated within few hours

and I didn't work on its GUI part. So, please don't check it out while

keeping in mind about GUI also.

B.Tech THESIS

Title : Trellis Coded Modulation

Project Guide : Dr. Kasturi Vasudevan, Assistant Professor, Electrical

Engineering, IIT Kanpur

Duration : 5 Jan, 2005 - 25 March, 2005:

Many "Trellis Coded Modulation" (TCM) schemes for "Additive White Gaussian

Noise" (AWGN) channels is modelled and compared. We compared and simulated

for uncoded case with 8-state and 8-PSK TCM systematic encoder, 4-state and

16-PSK TCM scheme, CCITT Recommendation V. 32 (32- CROSS modulation

scheme), and 4D QAM - 3 bits per signalling QAM - 8 states. The performance

of these models (Bit error rate vs. Signal to noise ratio) for AWGN channel

with various constellations and modulation techniques is simulated.

Title : Shell Mapping

Project Guide : Dr. Kasturi Vasudevan, Assistant Professor, Electrical

Engineering, IIT Kanpur

Duration : 1 Aug 2004 - 25 Nov, 2004

Shell mapping, independent of encoding at the transmission end, is mapping

the input bits onto a constellation such that we obtain maximum possible

shape gain. Thus, we map the inputs such that the average transmit power is

minimized. The whole process of mapping is recursive in nature. This is

recognized by V.34 as a standard communication system. Our simulation deals

with the same. The results map the binary inputs to the respective shells

according to the algorithm. Our conclusion illustrates some problem faced

in shell-mapping and possible extensions to our simulation results.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Title: Static and electrically actuated shaped MEMS mirror

Summary: It was a term-paper and presentation on novel-shaped MEMS mirror

made by polysilicon under the guidance of Dr. Anjan K Ghosh, Head of

Department, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Kanpur. It is

reflective static spherical mirrors were designed and fabricated using

conventional surface micromachining and the MultiPoly process. The mirrors

were measured to have radii of curvature of approximately 9 mm in agreement

with design predictions. Based upon these static mirrors, an actuatable

micromirror (diameter = 500 m, static radius of curvature = 6 4mm) was

designed and simulated using electromechanical coupled - field model. A

curved-to-flat digital actuation of the mirror was successfully achieved

with a pull-in voltage of 38 V.

Title: Piezoelectric Touch Sensor

Summary: I have done this project under the guidance of Dr. Ashish Dutta,

Centre of Mechatronics,

Institute of Technology, Kanpur. A sensor performs some pre-specified

actions after experiencing force

on touching using Piezoelectric material, generates voltage on the

application of force. I fabricated the

amplifier part (Instrumentation Amplifier) amplify the output low voltage

of piezoelectric material up to

1000 times. We used other useful tasks by that amplified voltage.

Title: Control Stability Algorithms Implementation

Summary: I have done this project under the guidance of Dr. L. Behera,

Department of Electrical Engineering, Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Implementation of various control stability criteria finding algorithms,

including Routh's stability criteria, as a course project. Identifying

methods used to find the control gains in feedback controllers.
