Projects: CARE (Claims Processing System) &
ITS 10.0 Release (InterPlan Teleprocessing System)
Role: Mainframe Programmer Analyst
Worked on CARE and ITS modules in the mainframe environment.
CARE systems are the place where all the claims are processed. It has a
Decision Engine built in regarding the action to approve, reject or
pending. There are different sub systems within the CARE system which
perform various analysis and reporting functions.
As part of Association's long term strategy to enhance provider
satisfaction and provide better customer facilities, for their Blue Card
customers, they have been upgrading ITS software. As part of ITS 10.0
release, the association has decided to start the migration of the ITS
databases from conventional IMS databases to DB2 databases. This move is
the first of their long term plan where they would be converting all ITS
databases to DB2 to ensure both ITS and the Blue Square applications are
seamlessly aligned.
This move has helped them to install and apply the Blue Square application
over the client server application which resolved the batch and telex
methods of medical record transfer between plans made them real time.
Enhancements provided as part of this release, also greatly improved system
performance related to PTS (Performance Tracking System) application.
ITS. It is a built in interface supporting various data formats, software
and procedures that allow various products/plans to access, send, receive
and control claims information. Plans communicate using NDM technology
which is equal to FTP on Mainframe. The transactions covered are 270/271,
276/277, 837, 835, 834,997 and 820. Mercator was used as the primary
translator tool. The project has stiff challenges as it involves a complete
