2003-2009 Machine Shop Supervisor/Programmer/Mfg. Eng - Altadis USA Inc. - Tampa, Fl.
I managed a machine shop for a large cigar manufacturer that closed their doors at the end of
august 2009. When I arrived in 2003 the shop was strictly a repair shop for the floor. Since then
we purchased several CNC machines and became the companies #2 supplier of machined and
fabricated parts. We supplied parts for 3 facilities within our company throughout the United
States and the Dominican Republic. I handled all aspects of the management and overseen 35+
employees. Other duties to include the ordering of all materials and tooling, purchased all new
equipment, programmed 4-axis Fanuc wire EDM, Haas vertical milling machines and lathes.
Familiar with Master Cam, and Renishaw digitizer for reverse engineering of parts (cam tracks
and difficult geometry). Programmed and manufactured dies for all cigar shapes and machines.
Created costs on all new parts. Worked with all kinds of materials (steels, brass, phenolic, etc.)
including heat-treated and re-cut parts. I assisted Engineering in design and approval of all
prints. Wrote all process instructions and ensured all processes were properly documented on
set-up sheets, inspection sheets, and all programs were of the latest revision. I was responsible
for all aspects of quality, including purchasing and maintenance on all inspection equipment.
Scheduled work for all machines and ensured on time delivery. I worked close with floor
supervisors to keep all cigar machines running.
1997-2003 Mfg. Eng / Supervisor - HyPro Inc. - Elkhorn, Wi.
I supervised machines for all three shifts. I set-up all machines, including all prototype
parts. Monitored cycle times and production, ensured on time delivery, built all tooling for jobs.
Other duties included fixture work, rework, reviews, safety, forklift, interviews, and inventory.
Machines to include: MH-63, MH-50, & MH-40 Mori Sieki horizontal machining centers.
Made all edits to programs, wrote all my own programs for fixture work and prototype parts. I
was moved from the floor to engineering. I wrote programs for new job start up, edited existing
programs, updated and create new set-up sheets, and helped in developing new processes. I did
a lot of the welding in the shop. I was responsible for turning in CIP’s on a regular basis to
show cost reduction and process improvement. I did work on the floor, hands on with all
operators and set-up personnel. I worked mainly with cast and ductile iron castings for
agricultural industry. I can provide all necessary tools.
