I worked as a Clinical Extern and Research Assistant in the Jewish Hospital

Cholesterol Center under the guidance of Dr.Charles.J.Glueck. The Jewish

Hospital Cholesterol Center is an internationally renowned program for the

research and treatment of diseases and disorders associated with

cholesterol. It has been the source of numerous groundbreaking research

programs throughout its history, and treats patients from all over the

world. As a Clinical Extern I was involved in history taking, physical

examination, reviewing laboratory reports, discussing treatment options

with patients and presenting the cases to Dr. Glueck. As an Extern, I also

got an opportunity to work with talented team of residents, attending

physicians, nutritionists, nurses and pharmacists and understood importance

of multi-disciplinary approach in improving patient's health.

The purpose of this experience is to learn about the training and practice

patterns in a US based residency-training program. I worked as a Clinical

Extern in a busy community teaching hospital Memorial Medical Center (MMC)

in Las Cruces, NM, USA under the guidance of Dr.Ann.S.Mercer. As a Clinical

Extern I was involved in history taking, physical examination, reviewing

the lab reports and discussing the treatment options with patients. I have

also accompanied Dr. Ann.S.Mercer in her evening rounds on the wards in

Memorial Medical Center and gained firsthand clinical experience to

adequately evaluate a patient. I also learnt the importance of counseling,

communication and interpersonal skills.

House officer: 01/2007 - 12/2007

Kammineni Hospital, India:

1) I worked as a House officer in Kammineni Hospital, Kadapa, India from

January 2007 to December 2007.

2) I served as a first contact doctor for patients and was involved in

clinical interviewing and examination, devising and implementing initial

diagnostic and therapeutic plan & referral to appropriate physicians.
