Research Work:
Chart Analysis in Financial Market
Duration: Jan 2011- till Date.
Technical Environment: Windows - Metastock
Abstract: Western technique of chart analysis includes candlestick chart
analysis.
My job is to deeply study candlestick patterns and their effects on the
underlying security's price movement. My research is focused on the price
movement within the candle and how it can be incorporated with the
candlestick of larger time frame.
Outcome: Writing a Journal with title "Purity of Candlestick Patterns" and
soon will be submitting in IFTA 2012 Journal for publication
Automation of Technical Analysis
Duration: Oct 2010-till date
Team Size: 2
Abstract: The project is a part my thesis. The objective is to build a
system which takes financial quotes, store them in database, calculate all
the technical indicators values, find all the patterns and generate a
strategy to trade automatically. This system also includes a very advance
filter and portfolio management which mainly focuses on user's risk reward
profile. Daily report of any security can also be generated automatically.
Independency of Technical Indicators on its recent Performance
Team: 1
Abstract: In this research work, I prove that chance of success of a
pattern in future doesn't depend on how it had performed in recent past. In
other words, technical indicators are independent of its recent historical
performance. We prove statistically by running several cases on a large set
of data on technical indicators. Among those indicators, one is 'Moving
Average Convergence Divergence' (MACD) which is widely known among other
technical indicator library.
Outcome: Paper was accepted at ICEF-2011 Conference.
Decision Making Model based on Errors in Technical Analysis
Team: 1
Abstract: In this work, I tried to concentrate on the errors in technical
analysis and then combine those errors to all the previous errors in the
history of underlying security's price chart and try to explain the reason
of pattern failures and build an optimized model.
With this research we can have a parallel decision making model with any
standardized model out there. With results which were carried over large
set of historical data, we conclude that using this model.
Outcome: Paper was accepted at Sixth International Conference on Money,
Investment and Risk Conference 2011.
