Manager, Safety Flight Operations Evaluations, 2006 - pres
. Manage the Safety Management System (SMS). Develop and
implement standards for Continental Airlines safety programs
into SMS. Define system requirements for all departments and
combine existing safety systems into the SMS. Departments
include Security, OSHA, Environmental Services, Maintenance,
Flight Operations, Airport Services, etc.
. Perform on-site audits and continual monitoring of external
business partners. Interface with safety liaisons at each
business partner to discuss compliance and regulatory
affairs.
. Manager of Continental Airlines' regulatory body approved
programs (i.e. Carry-on Baggage Program, Exit Row Seating
Program, and Hazardous Materials Program) and the manuals
associated.
. Perform essential research for the Aviation Safety Action
Program. This program is a non-punitive safety program used
to gather information from employees on safety events or non-
compliance issues.
. Review internal audit reports and self-audits performed on
training, crew records, and operations.
. Perform root-cause analysis on reported safety events.
Implement and monitor comprehensive fix corrective actions.
. Receive and respond to non conformity reports from the
regulatory body (FAA) and look for trending amongst the
events reported.
. Prepare, organize and chair the monthly safety meeting to
discuss any safety issues for research or action. There are
many safety topics covered in this meeting.
Technology Manager, Flight Operations Division, 2000 - 2006
. Associate member of the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP)
to review and analyze safety events from the field and
provide root-cause analysis, corrective action and
comprehensive fix items along with responsible departments.
. Created the ASAP website in conjunction with the research
team at the University of Texas to develop the new ASAP
system used today.
. Manage technology projects that involve the pilot group
within Continental Airlines, Inc. As the manager of these
projects, I had to perform the following:
1. Manage 12 employees located at different locations
within the US.
2. Gather requirements from our pilot group and my
direct report, the Vice President of Flight
Operations.
3. Work along with the Technology division to layout
software and hardware configurations.
4. Complete all documentation necessary for a particular
project and write the justification for all
expenditures, AFE process.

of timelines and deliverables.
6. Organize test groups and testing practices.

design and develop automated forms working toward a
