Re: Job ID: 25732 (Instructional Designer)
Dear Human Resource Manager:
I am interested in applying for the Instructional Designer position that is
currently available at ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. I believe
my extensive writing, editing, proofreading, and project management skills
make me an ideal candidate for this position.
Currently, I work as a lead editor for Rio Salado Community College, where
I annually review, edit, and manage approximately 130 courses/course-
related materials. A critical component of effective editing is an
appreciation for the writer's work and an understanding of the difference
between editing and re-writing. Therefore, I understand the importance of
critically reading content and asking discerning questions that will lead
to a better understanding of the content, which leads to quality revisions
and/or suggestions for revisions based on the information presented, rather
than my assumptions. Throughout my career, I have also worked as technical
writer/editor at Blackboard, American Express, Allied Waste, and Mercy Care
where it was vitally important for me to communicate skillfully with
subject matter experts (SMEs) to clarify content issues. Regardless of the
type of content (e.g., hardware components, financial transactions, garbage
disposal, or medical procedures), it was important to develop a genuine
rapport with the SMEs in an effort to gain their insight and expertise -
invaluable attributes that ultimately contributed to the development and
maintenance of excellent documents and team cohesion.
Throughout my writing and editing career, I have consistently generated and
disseminated professional hardcopy and/or online documents in a timely,
accurate, and succinct manner. If given the opportunity, I will continue to
exercise those abilities at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.
Please refer to my resume for additional details about my educational
background and work experience.
I would like the opportunity to discuss this job opportunity and the
contributions that I can make at ASU.
You can contact me at *********@*****.*** or call me at 602-***-**** to
discuss the possibility
of a job interview.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Christy Sholola
