Oracle 8i,
Team size : 3
Duration : Dec 2003 - Jan 2004
One of the major objectives of this re-engineering project with
eBay, is to deprecate the monolithic C++ code and go for a
component-based system (J2EE) to facilitate reuse and ease of
maintenance. This Bot Blocker is a stand-alone service that has to
be incorporated into robot active eBay utilities/pages. This feature
is made available depending on the level of robot activity, like
having too many unsuccessful Sign-In attempts or on Registration
pages where there might be robot activity. The service requires
end-users to view an image and transcribe the numeric contents of
the image into a form field. Once that is done the correctness of
the entered data is verified against the specified criteria. If the
checks pass, the user is believed to be a human and is allowed to
proceed.
