Signals, communications, traction power, overhead contact system; systems
integration, submittals and training
. Signals: Designed track circuits, insulated joints, wayside signals,
signal bridges; CIL houses, high single and high double cases, vaults,
communication huts, cable trays, cable troughs and underground cables.
Located switches and crossovers (#15 and #20 turnouts). Created detailed
plans of typical signals, cases, vaults, signal/communication cable
trays/troughs; control lines and aspect charts. Total number of
interlockings was eleven and total number of switches was ninety-six.
. Communications: Identified both demolition plans and new location plans
for CCTV (fixed and pan-tilt-zoom), public address speakers, access
control, TVM, various types of phones (PP, PIT, BL and maintenance), as
well as; fire alarm system equipment for the new ARC Tunnel platform at
Frank R. Lautenberg Station (Secaucus). Assisted in the maximum CCTV
coverage exhibits for NJ Transit in all the tunnels and at Manhattan 34th
Street station.
. Traction Power: Created equipment layout plans and cross sections
consisting of substations, transformers, switchgear, switch heaters,
wayside embedded conduit/duct bank runs and communication/electrical huts
at key interlockings.
. Overhead Contact System: Supported designs by locating foundations and
poles system wide.
. Systems Integration: Created system architecture interface schematics
for Frank R. Lautenberg Station, Twelfth Avenue fan plant, Dyer Avenue
fan plant, 33rd street fan plant; 35th Street plant, Manhattan 34th
Station, as well as; tying ARC Tunnel interfaces to the Portal Bridge
over the Hackensack River.
. Finalized submittals for both internal review and NJ Transit review (60%
level).
. Trained and assigned design tasks to college interns.
. Created general notes and symbols sheets, key plans, plan and profile
sheets, cross sections, cut sheets and typical details. Adhered to design
standards set by project management team and utilized numerous reference
files from other pertinent disciplines within "THE Partnership" via
'nesting' for all production to minimize interference.
. Customized Microstation V8 2004 Edition 'workspace' to accommodate
customized pull down pallet tools and symbol/cell libraries for design
team consistency.

trees, locality map, job summery and utilities. Utilities consisted of
fiber optic cables, utility poles, water, sewer; gas, electric, manholes,
catch basins and inlets.

Substations, 3D cofferdam and 3D natural gas well model
. Designed substations for AEP, ComEd, First Energy, PG&E and OG&E using
AutoCAD 2006, GTX, Microstation V8 2004 Edition/XM and I/RAS B. Plans
consisted of single line and 3 line wiring diagrams, grounding detail,
switches, transformers, MOAB, RTU and SCADA.
. Designed a 3D model of a cofferdam using Microstation XM to protect
future erosion of pillars for Interstate Route 64 Wabash River Bridge.
Created an animated sequence model of the cofferdam. The Patrick team
then used this model by giving a presentation to IDOT showing how the
phasing of the project would commence.
. Created a 3D PDF surface model and cross sections for 86 natural gas
wells by compiling approximately 2000 points varying in depths up to 8100
feet deep which had up to 36 different elements/materials by using
Microstation XM and InRoads. Wells are located in the state of Colorado.
. Customized Microstation V8 2004 Edition 'workspace' and ProjectWise to
accommodate customized pull down pallet tools and symbol/cell libraries
for design team consistency.
Parsons Brinckerhoff, Chicago, IL.
2004-2005
Transportation
CAD Designer
Switch heaters, pedestrian crossings and high speed rail upgrade
. Designed switch heater controls and indications at several control points
on the Metra Electric District Line to prevent build up of snow and ice.
. Designed 3 new pedestrian crosswalks for the new Metra National Street
station in Elgin between B35 and east Elgin control points.
. Designed several railroad crossings by upgrading them from a 2 gate to a
quad gate configuration to accommodate 110 mph train operations.

2002-2004
Transportation
CAD Designer/Network Administrator
Railroad extension, new stations, new switch yard, switch heaters; proposed
track alignment, preliminary engineering and highways
. Finalized Microstation files for bid set submittals on the Metra Union
Pacific West Line extension from Geneva to Elburn. Design was a 6 mile
triple track design including 1 highway over pass, 1 highway under pass,
2 new stations and a new switch yard.

service territory to prevent build up of snow and ice. In 2004 (per the
request of Metra), I continue work on this task as a consultant to AECOM
while being part time at Parsons Brinckerhoff.
. Created track alignments with plan and profile sheets, aerial photos and
cross sections for the proposed Metra Star Line. Plans were a part of a
study evaluating the feasibility and alternative analysis to implement
the proposed commuter rail service from Joliet to O'Hare International
Airport.
. Created an underground profile of the existing city sewer lines at
Chicago Union Station consisting of highest points of survey for track
clearance. The main focus on this project included track beds being
rebuilt due to having sunk becoming unstable over numerous years of
service.
