Editor, aspects of producing sections, the company moved me into the Special
Special Sections department with complete responsibility for weekly, seasonal
Sections and sponsored sections for the Asbury Park Press, Home News Tribune,
Ocean County Observer and Community Reporter publications. Topics

Working under tight deadlines, I would have to handle every all

Working solo in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2008, produced eight
sections every week along with 10 special sections including the
96-page holiday section without missing a deadline.
Internet Part of the original team when the Asbury Park Press went digital in
Content 1994 offering online news, Internet access and commercial website
Producer design. As producer, oversaw the creation of the original sites for
the Asbury Park Press and Home News Tribune including the look,
1994-1997 programming and functionality.
Coordinating with the various newsroom departments, oversaw the
development of in-house software that would port news stories over
from the print side to the website seamlessly and automatically.
Commercial clients included the original websites for the PNC Bank
Arts Center, NJ Devils and NJ 101.5.

Interactive Produced The Press' interactive co-op advertising training CD. Wrote
CD Producer the script, directed videos and oversaw the development of graphics
and interactive programs.

The CD has become an industry standard, still used for training
around the country.
Marketing Created promotional campaigns for News and Circulation departments
Copywriter including trade and in-paper ads, direct mail, posters, newsletters,
brochures. Designed point-of-sale and point-of-purchase displays and
1987-1993 premiums. Produced multimedia and radio promotions. Coordinated
promotional events. Wrote and produced radio spots.
During this time, The Press outdistanced competing newspapers to
become the fastest-growing newspaper in the New York ADI and one of
the 10 fastest-growing newspapers in the nation.
Victory Games - 1983 to 1987
Designer Designed board and role-playing games including the James Bond 007
role-playing game, Playboy: The Game of Elegant Lifestyles and Dr.
Ruth's Game of Good Sex. These games required high-quality, original
approaches to satisfy the stringent demands and guidelines required
by the licensors and make them fun and easy to play for the consumer.
Primarily a military simulations company, Victory experienced record
consumer sales with these product lines, adding to the bottom line
and increasing the stock price tenfold.
Marketing Planned and developed the company's first coordinated promotional
Copywriter campaign for the above-mentioned licensed games. Wrote and placed
ads, brochures and various marketing materials to promote the
company's RPGs, board games and military simulations.
For the first time, Victory products were featured in national
consumer magazines and newspapers resulting in a higher profile and
greater sales for the company.

Freelance work and internships during and just after college with companies
that included Vornado, Bozell & Jacobs and Crane, Barmak & Company, let me
develop the communication, interviewing, organization and writing skills
that I have improved and adapted to keep up with changing technologies:
Public Wrote press releases and case histories for a variety of industries
Relations including Rotron fans, Vanton Pumps, Newport News Shipbuilding, Metex
waste treatment, Johns Manville building products and Ethylene
flexible PTFE-lined couplers and pipes.
When the Bozell & Jacobs office took on its first consumer client,
Red Devil, I was chosen to handle the stories because of my versatile
skills and easy writing style.
Advertising Wrote copy, created rough layouts and oversaw production of brochures
Copywriting for the Bard-Parker lines of respiratory therapy products, sterile
gloves and surgical blades. Produced, directed and scripted
multimedia productions using films, slides, filmstrips and live
action for the annual sales meetings. Wrote speeches, press releases,
annual reports, newsletters.
As a result of introducing inspirational and motivational techniques
with theater-inspired presentations Bard-Parker experienced a sales
increase of 50%.
