2003 – Present Executive Secretary Coachella Valley Unified School District
Serve as secretary to the Superintendent by planning, initiating and carrying to completion
clerical, secretarial and administrative activities. Maintain the Superintendent’s calendar,
i ncluding appointments, t ravel, deadlines and commitments. Receive and route telephone
calls, answer questions which may involve interpretation of policies and procedures and
operation of the District. Prepare and disseminate school board agendas for School Board
meetings. Attend all School Board meetings, t ranscribe and maintain minutes and other
records. Assist Board members as directed by the Superintendent. Maintain effective
working relationships with Board members, District and school personnel, parents, media
representatives and the general public.
I am also the administrator of the District’s electronic forms program SchoolStream. I t is
a web hosted application service where forms (e.g., conference requests, vacation requests,
use of facilities requests) are accessible to all Distr ict personnel. I create and maintain the
form templates, as well as provide technical support to District users
I am also the administrator of Agenda Online. T his is a web hosted application for Board
agendas.
2000 – 2003 R edevelopment Secretary City of Cathedral City

Served as secretary to the Director of Redevelopment and assisted the secretary to the City
M anager. Performed a variety of secretarial duties and administrative tasks which
i ncluded composing correspondence, reports, forms and other documents independently or
f rom t ranscribing machines, notes or general instruction from supervisor and staff.
Received and screened callers with complaints or problems and directed them to the
appropriate party for disposition. Made appointments and coordinated meetings.
1989 – 2000 Business Owner Secretarial Etc.
Performed secretarial services for several small businesses and walk-ins. Composed letters,
p repared invoice statements, and a wide variety of secretarial services.
1986 – 1999 Administrative Assistant Coachella Valley Mexican American
C hamber of Commerce
During this period, while working full t ime positions, I was the Administrative Assistant for
CVMACC; the only staff person for the chamber under the direction of a Board of Directors.
I answered all calls to the chamber, opened and responded to all correspondence. I
maintained all records (e.g., membership lists, financials, agendas and minutes). For
special events I was responsible for putting invitations together, having them printed,
performing mail merge, mailing out, keeping t rack of reservations, coordinating events,
working the front table. Events included: Annual golf tournament, quarterly breakfasts for
t he Riverside County Superintendent, annual installation gala, monthly mixers, etc.
1986 – 1989 A dministrative Assistant Elvi rita Lewis Foundation
Assistant to the President and Chairman of a non-profit organization that sponsored
i ntergenerational, elderly and cross cultural programs. The Foundation administered three
i ntergenerational childcare centers, and a Job Training and Partnership Act Older worker
p rogram. Performed a variety of administrative and clerical duties necessary to run the
organization efficiently. There was an administrative staff of three so I worked
i ndependently without much supervision.
1982 – 1986 Community Development Secretary City of Cathedral City
Worked under the supervision of the Director of Community Development who oversaw the
following departments: Planning, Building, Engineering, and Code Enforcement. I took
m inutes for the Planning Commission, the Traffic Advisory Commit tee, and the General
P lan Commit tee. I prepared agenda packets for all three commit tees. I was responsible for
t he public noticing of all projects going before the Planning Commission. I was the fi rst
person at city hall to have a word processor, which I learned from a manual. When the
entire city staff acquired computers, I was the person who t rained everyone.
1978 – 1982 Legal Secretary Law Offices of Retamal & Retamal
Secretary to At torney Evelyn Retamal. Performed secretarial duties utilizing legal
terminology, procedures and documents. Prepared legal papers and correspondence, such
as summonses, complaints, motions and subpoenas. Maintained M rs. Retamal’s court
calendar and appointment calendar. Screened clients and collected initial data for
d issolutions and worker’s compensation cases.
1975 – 1978 Clerk Typist County of Riverside
Right out of high school I began working as a telephone operator for the Department of
Public Social Services. There were 16 incoming lines. Shortly thereafter I was promoted to
Food Stamp Clerk and then moved over to the Probation Department where I t ranscribed
p robation reports.
