objective
My experience with Jews for Jesus, as well as serving as a board member for
the Creative Arts Academy of the West Valley, and volunteer work with the
Praxis Center for Church Development have given me extensive knowledge and
experience of life and work in the nonprofit sector. My desire is to take
the next step in my career in the field of grant writing and grant
management.
Work Experience
church relations, jews for jesus
goodyear, AZ 2010-2011
Jews for Jesus is a non-profit parachurch organization that exists for the
purpose of Jewish evangelism. My role is to establish and nurture
relationships between our organization and churches across the state of
Arizona. I am the front line effort for development by uncovering new
prospects in Arizona, introducing them to our mission, and ultimately
creating new partners in our global ministry. At Jews for Jesus I use
Blackbaud Enterprise CRM on a daily basis. The key to the success of my
work is being able to relationally connect across denominational lines with
pastors with varying backgrounds and traditions.
office/sales manager, State Farm Insurance
Avondale, AZ 2005-2010
My responsibilities reached every aspect of the modern day multiline
agency. As the Office/Sales Manager I was responsible for all aspects of
marketing, producing, servicing, and maintaining the property and casualty
side of the agency. This includes monitoring trends in the industry and the
office, tracking and analyzing production, creating turnkey systems to
maximize efficiency, creating, implementing and monitoring
business/marketing plans, and training and managing staff. In addition to
running the property and casualty side of the business I was also
intimately involved in the decision process for all other areas. The
business owner and I jointly analyzed, strategized, and made decisions for
the business. These included but were not limited to decisions impacting
office location, lease structuring, overhead expenses, payroll, staff, and
overall business goals and strategies. Although I was very involved in the
managing and planning process of the business one of my largest strengths
was building and developing relationships with policyholders. I made every
effort to know and attend to clients' needs insuring they were well cared
for. I also enjoyed educating clients on their insurance needs, current
plans, and potential gaps in coverage.
financial consultant, axa advisors
fort worth, tx 2004-2005
At AXA I ran my own investment practice where I was responsible for
prospecting for and writing new investment business. My particular
expertise was working with small business owners, giving them guidance and
advice on financial matters relating to benefits packages, personal
investments, tax savings, and estate planning. I was also involved in the
implementation of plans revolving around these areas. While at AXA I sat
for and passed the Series 65.
FINANCIAL SERVICES SPECIALIST, STATE FARM INSURANCE
southlake, TX 2002-2004
My introduction into State Farm and property and casualty insurance was by
way of financial services. I was pursued and recruited by a State Farm
field recruiter to partner with a local agent to boost financial services
production. My role was to actively prospect in and out of the agent's book
of business to find financial services sales opportunities and match
customer's needs with products. I also trained the office staff to
recognize opportunities and convert them to sales leads.
service trader ii, fidelity investments
dallas, tx 2001-2002
I began at Fidelity as a mutual fund specialist during my third year of
college and was the youngest in my department at that time. While I
Fidelity, I sat for and passed the Series 7 and Series 63. I worked my way
into a trader position and soon was promoted to a level II trader which is
the highest in the retail division. There I assisted customers with
investment trading ranging from simple mutual fund transactions to
complicated stock and options strategies, including margin accounts. I was
familiar with basic investment strategies and often advised on such matters
including tax implications.
OTHER Experience
In addition to my professional career I am also heavily involved in other
activities and organizations that allow me to serve in areas of interest to
me. These activities have not only fulfilled my desire to serve but they
have also helped develop me professionally in ways my career has not always
afforded me. Some of these include pasturing the Small Group Ministry of my
church, working with a non-profit organization that trains and develops
pastors abroad, and serving on the board of directors for the Creative Arts
Academy of the West Valley. In these roles I lead groups of other leaders
ranging from 5 to 75. I am comfortable speaking/teaching in public forums
as well as in intimate settings. I have travelled internationally to speak
and train which has helped me learn to adapt to new environments and easily
relate to people from all walks of life. The training and experience I have
in these areas have been invaluable and have contributed to my development
as a person and as an employee.
Education
Texas Wesleyan University - B.S. Business Administration, 2005
While attending university I married my high school sweetheart, had two
children, and worked full-time to put myself through school. I was able to
maintain a GPA of over 3.5 during the last half of my coursework making
dean's list on several occasions. I was also actively involved in our
campus' service fraternity, "Alpha Phi Omega" and am a member of "Alpha
