Produced online help and print/PDF documentation for Livelink, the world’s leading enterprise content

management (ECM) software suite for large organizations. Livelink, Open Text’s flagship product, is a Web

based ECM tool that works together with such legacy systems as database servers, Web application servers,

ERP systems, etc., to manage both structured and unstructured content. It includes modules for workflows,

projects, remote document caching, and more. Authoring is done with a proprietary single sourcing system

based upon Epic Editor. My portfolio comprises a range from basic end user Quickstart Guide to an XML

Import and Export Guide for customers who want to manage highly customized data object types in Livelink.

Managed a team of 3 4 writers, reporting to the Director, Software Development. In addition to my typical

writing projects, my new mandate was to think strategically, look for ways to consistently improve our authoring

methods, strategies, and technology.

Accomplishments:

1. Promoted to supervisory position within one year of joining Open Text.

2. Championed a new Livelink feature involving a dynamic table of contents for the online help system,

and served as project manager for that initiative.

3. Heavily involved in the development of a standard documentation style and information architecture

for the technical documentation.

4. Heavily involved in the adaptation of a legacy, XML based, single source authoring environment for

the technical documentation.

5. Participated in the development of Standard Operating Procedures for technical documentation

companywide. Led various initiatives to improve and extend Livelink’s proprietary online help system,

enhancing its usefulness and efficiency.

Edited articles on a variety of subjects for the World Book “Annuals” Science Year, Health and Medical

Annual, and the World Book Yearbook. These included magazine length feature articles and many shorter,

encyclopedic articles. Tasks included copy and content editing, fact checking, soliciting and working with

authors on content, proposing article ideas and keeping myself informed and up to date on the topics in my

purview.

Also authored a few original short articles for both Science Year and the World Book Yearbook.
