Project Description
The project goal was consolidation of 150 IT systems and 250 end-user
applications in survey-processing systems of CSO into one unified platform.
It aims to leverage existing survey-processing intelligence in CSO and
promote consistency.
My Responsibilities
. I started with the Aggregation module, which is one the core part of
survey-processing. This being a complex module provided a great
learning experience. Soon I was executing test cases on Aggregation
module and discovering functional bugs which were logged in QC and
Bugzilla
. I was tasked with regression testing of code changes done by
development team. It was an interesting assignment to map the code
changes to appropriate areas of regression and identify issues.
. I was involved in user acceptance testing for major modules where I
effectively co-ordinated with the clients for analyzing their
defects and provided the Root cause analysis. This enabled
developers in addressing the issues successfully.
. Aggregation was challenging as it has intricate dependencies with
other modules like Data Capture and Dissemination. By deepening my
understanding of these dependencies I was able to spot the big
picture. This helped in uncovering issues which spawn across
modules.
. Taking over as the module owner for "Aggregation" and "Respondent
management" required me to become the go to person for these
modules. I served as the liaison for communicating critical issues
with development team, onsite team and clients.
. I owned the preparation and management of system test cases for
these modules. I involved myself in the change request process and
worked on refactoring the test cases. I was tasked with execution of
system test cases in other modules like "Sample Selection", "Survey
Management", "Dissemination" and "Security".
. I coordinated, trained and reviewed the test execution of the on-
site team. I was responsible for mentoring the new members of the
team by providing knowledge transfer and guiding them through the
testing cycle.
. Created "understanding document" which will serve as point of
reference to any future teams working on these modules.
. I identified Automation Scenarios and developed QTP scripts as Proof
of Concept.
