SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
. Designed a new high speed plate loading system that increased the plate
output from 60 plates per hour to 150 plates per hour while solving many
reliability issues. The design involved vacuum systems, linear and gear
motors. Patent pending US 2008/0150223 "High Speed Pick-Up Device".
. Redesigned a transport conveyor system that reduced the number of service
calls from 4 to 5 a month to 0 service calls since implementation 2 years
ago. This redesign resulted in a 25% cost savings and I have a patent
for this design. Patent US 7,540,372 "Belt Driven Roller Assisted Media
Transport"
. Conceptualized a chemistry free processor and then developed a
feasibility machine for the customer to test. The customer was so
impressed with the performance of the feasibility machine they requested
that there would be no major changes when developing the production
machine.
. Cost reduced a dryer assembly by 45% while greatly improving the
performance of the dryer.
. Converted a machined and glued PVC plastic tank into a vacuum formed ABS
tank which reduced the tank cost from $550 per part down to $200 per
part.
. Mechanical Project Engineer for a $4 million paper machine winder and
designed the winder in 70% of the allotted engineering hours for the
project. Completed machine on schedule and under budget.
. Designed the Shaped Energy Detector System for a cargo X-Ray inspection
system.
. Experienced with sheet metal, machined parts, weldments, thermoforming,
castings, and extrusions.

press industry. These are high accuracy laser scanning systems with
chemical processors that involve opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical
assemblies, precision mechanisms, motion control systems, vacuum systems,
pumps, plumbing, and fluid control. My responsibilities include but are
not limited to the following:
. Develop new products and existing product enhancements from concept
through manufacturing.
. Lead Engineer for several projects.
. Use Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3D solid modeling to design parts, assemblies,
and create drawings.
. Perform Finite Element Analysis on Pro/MECHANICA.
. Create ECOs, bills of materials, assembly drawings, detail drawings, and
procedures.
. Assemble, test and debug feasibility system, prototype systems, and
components to verify design.
. Create test plans, perform verification, life, and reliability tests and
evaluate the results.
. Design and build assembly fixtures and test fixtures to assist
manufacturing and field service.
ECRM Imaging Systems (continued)
. Troubleshoot products and design enhancements to solve problems and
improve performance.
. Support existing product lines and act as technical support to other
departments.
. Practice design for manufacturing and assembly techniques.
. Assign work to technicians, designers and drafters and verify their work.
. Prepare and conduct design review presentations to customers and other
departments.
. Wrote invention descriptions and created drawings to obtain 2 patents.
American Science and Engineering, Billerica, MA (11/01-5/03)

inspection systems for security applications. Products ranged in size from
small parcel inspection systems to large vehicle and cargo inspection
systems. My responsibilities included but were not limited to the
following:
. Developed new products from concept through manufacturing.
. System and sub-system design development included structural, hydraulics,
pneumatics, motion control, X-ray technology, X-ray shielding, operator's
consoles and electronics packaging.
. Troubleshoot and tested existing products then implemented solutions
to problems.
. Used SolidWorks 3D solid modeling to create parts, assemblies, and
drawings.
. Performed Finite Element Analysis on COSMOS.
. Delegated work to technicians, designers and drafters and verified
their work.
. Prepared and conducted design review presentations.

entire mechanical portion of paper machine winder and unwind projects,
which included the following:
. Project leader of the mechanical portion of the products. Winders sell
for $2 to $4 million.
. Performed machine layout then designed components to meet customer's
requirements.
. Created bills of materials and created assemblies and detail drawings
on AutoCAD.
. Designed all hydraulic and pneumatic systems, sized motors and couplings.
. Guided and delegated work to engineers, designers and drafters and
checked their work.
. Worked closely with the customer, manufacturing and other departments.
. Traveled to customer sites to present machine design.
