Senior Actuarial Consultant
Initiated and completed the development of two MS Access applications to
process Bond data and to create the required TAS (Tillighast Actuarial
Software) data files. Completed the following required tasks efficiently
and independently.
-Developed and documented MS Access application to replace existing Excel
macros used in the merging of Investment Management's Bond Pension Extract
data files.
-Developed Import/Export specifications to mechanically load Pension
Extract data files at individual segment and roll-up level.
-Established necessary data normalization and relationships between data
tables.
-Developed queries, macros, MS Access visual basic code and graphic user-
interface front-end.
-Developed forms used in the modification of individual bond records,
generating original, changed and new records detail reports.
-Developed MS Access reports used in the Balance Sheet reconciliation
process, first stage (merging of Pension Extract data).
-Developed XL workbook used in the reconciliation of Pension Extract to LCP
BS as the data files are split among applications and file types.
Developed TAS Files.mdb (MS Access application) used in the development of
TAS, Bondedge and Trepp pension extract input files.
-Developed queries based on TAS table structure specification for bond,
mortgage and preferred stock data loads.
-Developed queries based on Trepp and Bondedge data load specification.
-Developed control reports by Segment, application (TAS, Bondedge & Trepp),
record counts

either individual segment or roll up for TAS, Bondedge and Trepp.
Excel macros were retired after a successful testing period using the "Bond
Pension Extract" and "TAS Files" MS Access applications. The new
application was used for the 9/30/09 ALIC and AHLIC Asset /Liability
Sufficiency process. A Corporate directive to restate the write-downs on
FAS115-1 bonds required a rerun of the 9/30/08 bonds in November. The
efficiency of the new Access application allowed for the rerun, and the A/L
testing was completed on time. The new process has reduced the Bond
creation process significantly with minimal intervention.
