FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF INSURANCE AGENTS
One of 4 Executive Officers for the third largest insurance association in the country! Responsible
for all information systems and technical operations, internal and external support staff, and the
ongoing maintenance and availability of a complex data center. Act as chief liaison between the
elected board of directors and FAIA senior staff as the Chief Information Officer.
• Responsible for assessing, recommending, budgeting, acquiring, and implementing necessary capital
assets for association operations.
• Assist in long range planning visions of the association and charged with the final execution of such plans.
• Form, manage, and monitor budgets, capital projects, and long range goals for all technology needs across
entire enterprise as well as oversee all organization enterprise wide IT and data entry procedures.
• Develop and maintain external relationships with vendors, contractors, suppliers, and agency management
software companies as well as their respective user groups.
• Generate quarterly formal status reports to the board and senior staff on the standing of all information
systems and projects.
• Chief liaison to the FAIA Membership and Operations Council that encapsulates several task forces;
Catastrophe, Automation, and Local Boards.
• Develop and maintain operations of a Disaster Recovery Co-op between FAIA and company partners in the
event of a catastrophic event that requires mobilization of equipment to assist in disaster recovery and
claims reporting.
• Migrated corporate web site to a fully data driven content managed site in .Net which has reduced the total
cost of data entry and speed to market has dramatically increased. This move has also reduced the
dependence on highly technical staff to maintain the site.
• Developed, maintains, and monitors emergency procedures and workflows for the organization in the event
of a regional disaster.
• Point person for all disaster response coordination. In 2006, researched, acquired, and fully outfitted a
Catastrophe Response Vehicle (CRV) to respond to natural, and/or manmade major catastrophes. This
vehicle has the latest in satellite technology to provide a self sufficient office environment that is easily
deployed within 24 hours of a catastrophe.
• Work with senior staff to scope, develop, and implement an entirely membership based social networking
environment that is now used as a base model for other insurance association implementations
CEO & President, 1990 - 1999 API GROUP & PREMIUM FINANCE
Responsibilities included all facets of running a commercial insurance agency and premium finance company.
Worked with staff continuously to explore different methods of combining commercial insurance risk management
with financing and risk retention techniques along with long term planning of growth.
• Conduct on-going financial analysis and feasibility models to verify that returns on premium financed
contracts are within our projected growth models and modify our rates accordingly with our commercial
customers based on current interest rates published daily.
•Negotiated, oversaw and finalized deal with Prudential Insurance Company to procure
approximately $500,000 in written premiums of fire risks and flood in 1997. Delegated
authority to staff on conversion, integration and acclimation of approximately 300 data
records into our relational database system.
• Directed programmers, contractors and support staff charged with ongoing
development, maintenance and availability of all MIS operations including on-line
applications that supported immediate and installment billing, financial posting,
accounting procedures, PC support interface and bad debt collections.
Co-Director Premium Finance/Risk Management Technologies, 1988- 1990 IBM
Business Partner
Directed several programmers and various support personnel in the design, development, installation and
support of the AS/400 value added premium finance software. Managed qualified personnel to aid in the bridging of
AS/400 finance software with other similar products (i.e. risk management, accounting, and management).
PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS
National iMIS User Group(NIUG). Currently reside as the President, and in the past chaired the PAC
(Product Advisory Committee) between NIUG and ASI (iMIS Vendor), and have served on the Board of
Directors for five years.
Agents Council for Technology (ACT) Assist with numerous objectives, and recently wrote a paper on
disaster planning, and was a contributor to A Vision of the Future, 2001. In 2006 chaired the national
committee for disaster preparedness. Also sits on WEB 2.0 committee as co-chair.
ACORDS User Group Information Exchange(AUGIE) Assisted with the agency survey in 2002, and will
be on the task force this year to re-do the survey. Also assist with other initiatives where my expertise is
valuable.
