JPMorgan Chase / American Century Investments 2000 - Current

Senior IT Manager. Currently responsible for several key applications for
the Retirement Plan Services Division within JPMorgan Chase. Applications
include the division's main Internet website RetireOnline.Com, the
Interactive Voice Response system, and the Call Center's Intranet
application. Responsibilities include large Investment projects, small
enhancement work, and support - leading 12 employees, 12 contractors,
~$4M/year.
2007 - 2009
Responsible for Common Services group consisting of Project Manager, QA
Lead, Business Systems Analyst, and 8 Technical Leads. Primary focus was
to develop common services using a new Java Spring based architecture.
Project based work is in support of web applications and IVR (Interactive
Voice Response).
2002 - 2007
Responsible for Investment projects within the Retirement Plan Services
Division. Owned several projects simultaneously using matrix approach to
project development. Also had Management responsibilities for team of 10
developers. Project work crossed large number of applications including
Java based web development, mainframe based batch applications, and
Advantage:Gen CICS applications. Additional duties included portfolio
budgeting, financial control responsibilities, and resource management.
Project functionality included: 401k Participant Website, Call Center
Representatives Intranet based tool, OMNIPlus 401k recordkeeping product,
financial controls, brokerage interfaces. Typically responsible for ~$3M /
year project work.
In 2003, American Century sold the Retirement Plan Services division to
JPMorgan Chase.
2000 - 2002
At American Century 3rd Party Division, led a team of 10 developing Java
based web applications. These financial applications were used by external
Financial Advisors selling ACI Mutual Funds.
Medical Communications Software 1997 - 2000

Director of Engineering. Responsible for product development, quality
assurance, support, publications, and product direction. Directing the
activities of 10 developers, 5 quality assurance analysts, 18 support
personnel and 3 managers. Products include a new Windows Clinical
application as well as 2 DOS applications. Windows product went from 30 to
240 clients in six months.
Compuware Corporation 1991 - 1997
Los Gatos, California
Development Manager. Led a team of 8 developers responsible for the
management console of the EcoSCOPE product. This Win95/WinNT based product
is a network management tool. Functionality includes a Super Monitor that
watches all traffic on a network and feeds a Single View component that is
the management console. The management console is used to display the
topology of the network along with traffic volume and response times by
application. Product automatically discovers and reports on over 1500
known applications including all major databases and Internet traffic.
Led a team of 12 developing a new C++ product, Related-XPERT. This product
reuses much of the Data-XPERT for Databases code. Common code is
maintained and reused. Product has been released on Win95 and WinNT
platforms. Much of the same technology that was used to build Data-XPERT
was used to create this product. Functionality includes the ability to
Load referentially related data from DB2 on a mainframe into Oracle/DB2
Common Server/Sybase/Informix tables. Load methods supported include SQL
Insert and the load utilities from the different databases. Table creation
was also supported.
Led a team of 13 developing the first C++ product in our division, Data-
XPERT for Databases. This product was originally developed on OS/2.
Product was ported to SunOS, Solaris, HPUX, AIX, Win95, and WinNT.
Technologies used included C++, tools.h++, XVT portable GUI class library,
Purify, Smartheap, Oracle, Sybase, Informix, DB2 Common Server, PVCS
Version Control, PVCS Configuration Builder, and ODBC drivers. Product is
a distributed 3-tier application employing a client and server.
Communications protocols used included TCP/IP, Netbios, and CPIC (LU 6.2)
using asynchronous communications. Functionality included the ability to
edit/browse/query tables from Oracle/DB2 Common Server/Sybase/Informix
Databases in a spreadsheet format. Product was developed using a custom
"spiral" methodology approach, employing the use of the Rational Rose
product and Booch diagrams.
Led a team of 7 developers in building the first client server utility
software for company, File-AID/PC for DB2. This product runs in OS/2 and
DOS. Product was written in C.

and 5 development managers. Company's third product developed during this
leadership, DB2-XPERT.

Development Manager. Promoted to lead a team of 7 developers charged with
building company's second product, IMS-XPERT/ISPF. Product is a set of
programmer's utilities working with IMS DB data. Also responsible for
building sister products IMS-XPERT/DC and IMS-XPERT/CICS. Duties included
product architecture, design, development, testing, beta activities, and
publications. Additional responsibilities included hiring and building
cohesive development organization.
1983 - 1984
Software Developer. Developer on startup's initial product, DATA-XPERT.
Product is a set of programmer's utilities working with IBM mainframe data.
Was the first product of its kind to use COBOL layouts throughout the
product as templates for data. Product runs under TSO/ISPF and accesses
VSAM/ISAM/PDS data. Product was written in PL/1 and Assembler, following
Arthur Anderson's Method/1 methodology (customized version).
