Available January 2011.

Curtiss Wright EMD

Engineering Co-Op

. Supported efforts to quote and design new motors and

generators for navy and nuclear applications by carrying

out Finite Element Analyses on parts; calculating pressure

drops in cooling loops; writing requests for quotes;

calculating bending modes in rotors; and organizing results

in excel spreadsheets.

. Constructed an Excel spreadsheet with inputs that

parametrically drive the dimensions of a 3D model of a

motor while maintaining the correct relationships between

parts. This allowed for updating the values of dimensions

to obtain new motor models.

. Mastered the barcode system and used my knowledge to give

customers and shop workers all the information they needed

to render barcodes for necessary items.

. Designed test fixtures and followed through with their

manufacture by working with shop workers to convey the

design and installation.

. Applied Visual Basic to create more useful and intuitive

Excel documents for applications, such as keeping time

sheets or keeping track of the components of a design.
