Duties and Responsibilities

< Lead strategic sourcing activities for production start-up of first

Vestas' Greenfield factory in North America.

< Develop strategies and objectives to drive improvements in the supply

chain and the sourcing process.

< Lead and manage strategic buyers and supplier quality engineers

responsible for selection, development, and approval of domestic and

international suppliers.

< Develop strategies and execute cost reduction plans.

< Direct supplier evaluation and development program to achieve optimal

supplier performance. Establish supplier performance metrics,

certification program, supplier scorecard and supplier awards program.

< Address supplier's issues regarding quality, delivery, service and

cost. Interface with supply base executive management on all

unresolved or complex issues.

< Coordinate and manage key suppliers relationship including supplier

conferences and quarterly reviews.

< Manage production planning and scheduling process to eliminate stock

outs and assure material requirements are met.

< Direct inventory management; develop strategies to keep inventory at a

minimum level to achieve highest inventory turn level.

< Serve as a Lean Manufacturing co-facilitator for assigned manufacturing

facilities. Facilitated Kaizen events pertaining to materials

management function, inventory control, production reporting, physical

inventories, warehousing and logistics.

Accomplishments

o Established reliable supply chain. Selected suppliers in Eastern

Europe for materials and technologies not available in domestic or

Asian markets. Transferred high cost commodities to low cost

countries. Established and certified suppliers in Taiwan, China, India

and Korea able to maintain high quality and delivery requirements.

Achieved $26 Million yearly cost reduction and at the same time applied

competitive tension to domestic suppliers.

o Negotiated contracts with suppliers for raw materials, purchased

components and capital equipment including general terms and

conditions, price, lead-times, warranty and delivery. Negotiated

payment terms up to 120 days, extended warranty, and consignment stock

or Kanban inventory replenishment strategy.

o Develop strategies for risk mitigation. Work with research and cross-

functional team to qualify additional sources or alternative materials.

o Developed reliable domestic and overseas suppliers able to provide

quality products and service, consistent and timely deliveries and cost

reduction. Reduced lead time, completely eliminated parts shortage and

achieved 99.5% on time delivery.

o Implemented Best Purchasing and Supply Management Practices and best in

class global supply planning processes and systems; transformed the

procurement organization from a transactional-based group to a

strategic-based group.

o Developed and implemented organizational procedures and policies to

achieve better communication, greater efficiencies, clear job focus,

better production and purchasing which lowered costs, improved supply

chain, and increased company profits.

o Strategically partnered with suppliers in support of new product

development. Approached several industry leading suppliers with

request to develop new less expansive material not available in the

market to replace existing material. Introduced new product and

achieved $70 Million cost reduction.

o Worked with suppliers and led cross-functional team in materials

substitute efforts. Achieved $12 Million cost reduction by applying

material substitute.

o Initiated opening by the strategic supplier the service center in close

proximity to manufacturing plant which reduced on-hand inventory,

addressed quality concerns, and provided better service.

o Avoided antidumping fees by establishing stainless steel suppliers in

countries excluded from antidumping requirements such as Finland and

Hungary; achieved $16 Million savings.

o Implemented VAVE review and achieved $4 million in cost reductions by

integrating supplier's feedback on design and manufacturability.

o Implemented Dock-to-Stock program which enabled purchased components to

be transferred directly into production without the need of quality

control. Reduced time spend on incoming quality inspection and reduced

the number of quality inspectors from 3 people to 1.

o Implemented consignment inventory for over 90% of purchased components

which allow shifting inventory ownership to suppliers and doubled

annual inventory turns. Achieved $24 Million inventory reduction and

improved cash flow.

o Implemented vendor-managed (VMI) inventory which allowed achieving $8

million inventory reduction in addition to $1.5 million savings and

yearly rebates. Reduced buyer's responsibilities and reduced

purchasing staff by one person shifting the buyer responsibilities to

VMI vendors.

o Implemented formal employee performance review and evaluation. Track

each employee's achievements (KPI) and increased each individual and

overall department performance. Implemented leadership self assessment

and leadership review (360 review), which allowed me to evaluate my

management style based on direct and indirect reports feedback.

o Negotiate substantial price discounts for all inbound and outbound

freights with several major TL and LTL carriers. Introduced and routed

charters (milk-runs) for raw materials and components delivery.
