PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
CAD Design / 3D Modeler / Drafter
Aluminum Chambered Boats, Bellingham, Washington - 2006-2010
Responsible for the design of government, commercial and
recreational boats. Created 3D models of all parts and
assemblies (in-house and out-sourced) required in the
construction of 21 foot to 38 foot aluminum boats. Utilized 3D
models to make 2D drawings of all individual parts and detailed
construction / fabrication drawings of all sub-assemblies and
all phases of total boat fabrication and outfitting. Formulated
BOM's and specified to purchasing all needed hardware, windows,
doors, fuel tanks, etc. required to complete boat. Designed
multiple jigs required for boat assembly. Central designer on
ACB's JMEC (Joint Mission Expeditionary Craft) in conjunction
with Northrup-Grumman, United States Coast Guard CB-L (Cutter
Boat - Large) and the new, just awarded contract for the United
States Coast Guard Transportable Port Security Boat (TPSB).
PCB Design & Prototype Fabrication / Precision Sheet Metal Electronic
Chassis Design & Fabrication
Independent Design Consultant / Senior Design Engineer - Shomi
Corporation / Rave Engineering /
ARC International, San Diego California, Showtime Video
Ventures, Tillamook, Oregon - 1983-2006
1988-2006 - Duties included design and layout of through hole
and surface mount, multi-layer, high density circuit boards /
created all files required for pcb fabrication / order boards
and coordinate with pcb fabrication facilities / correction and
revision of electronic schematics / component research and
definition / production of BOM's / design of all internal and
external sheet metal components and hardware.
1984-1988 - As machine shop foremen performed all sheet metal
operations from design through fabrication of precision
electronic enclosures. Produced precision jigs and fixtures for
improved manufacturing efficiency in the machine shop, the
assembly floor and the silkscreen facility.
1983-1984 - Entry level mechanical assembler inserted input /
output jacks, mounted circuit boards, connected wiring harnesses
in electronic chassis and performed final assembly of video
products.
MILITARY EXPERIENCE
Precision Measuring Equipment Technician, United States Air Force -
Rank E-5 (Staff Sergeant) - 1972-1978
Tasked with repair and calibration of a multitude of electronic
and mechanical measuring devices including volt meters, signal
generators, frequency counters, pressure and vacuum gauges,
micrometers, barometers, scales and torque wrenches. Also
required to order parts, schedule incoming and outgoing
equipment and maintain maintenance schedules for all calibrated
measuring devices for an entire Air Force Base.
