PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Loan Originator
. Build relationships with realtors, referral partners, counseling
agencies and market direct to the consumer to generate mortgage loan
transactions.
. Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients by reviewing credit, income
stability, debt, and assets. Structure mortgage loans which meet
clients' needs and my company's underwriting standards paying
particular attention to the layering of risks as well as product
overlays.
. Review and evaluate the real estate sales contract for sufficiency.
Make recommendations to the real estate agent and help structure the
contract.
. Set client expectation and assuage their trepidation as hallmarks of
excellent customer service.
. Process the transaction so that an approvable mortgage loan can be
delivered to the underwriter. Collaborate with clients to insure that
all loan conditions are met.
. Document the loan file to evidence compliance with applicable federal
and state laws and regulations.
. Insure a smooth close by overseeing and coordinating the timeliness
and performance of the participants- the appraiser, title company,
insurance provider,
home inspector, HUD Consultants for 203k loans, and assistance
programs to name a few.
Bank Examiner
. Supervised complex examinations, some under cease and desist orders of
the Bank Commissioner and the Commissioner of Consumer Credit. Led,
as Examiner in Charge, some of Maryland's largest financial
institution examinations including the Municipal Employees Credit
Union.
. Tested the quality of the loan portfolio by reviewing individual
loans, both mortgage and consumer, to determine that they were made in
accordance with the financial institution's underwriting guidelines.
Determined to what extent the portfolio was performing by monitoring
loan losses and insured that statutory reserves were properly stated.
. Reviewed accounting records to test compliance with applicable
Maryland laws and regulations. Consulted with smaller licensees to
organize and improve their record keeping functions.
. Maximized effectiveness and morale of staff by assigning tasks and
licensees related to employee interest and background thereby
promoting teamwork rather than competitiveness.
. Trained many of Financial Regulation's new examiners.
. Conducted exit interviews for the presentation of my written findings
and recommendations to management.
